Well, you chose this path, as much as you were warned not to, well I guess I will tell you the "speculation" the "rumor" about the reality of Gargamel....remember this is just a rumor....
Gargamel is actually the side project of members of the now defunct death metal band Capharnaum. Gargamel was created as a purely a joke, that just snowballed into the monstrosity that is a few pages back. It started like this, we had our own recording studio, so lots of joke shit was floating around. We got the idea that maybe we could make a joke black metal song, and get it signed to some obscure shit label out from Europe or something. But nothing ever materialized. We dubbed the project Gargamel for shits and a giggles. Then one day the song known as Eve of Evilness came about, it was perfect. The inspiriation for the song came after we got our hands on Arcturus' Aspiera Hyms...hence the very sexy lead in that song. That sparked the sound we wanted for Gargamel. You can definetly tell what bands influenced the Gargamel sound. As far as the image came from, it basically made itself. I mean black metal became such a parody of itself that it made sense to sing about Voltron, Thundercats and He-Man, and not to forget Legend of Zelda. The more things fit in, the crazier the band got, until I started to piece together a Gwar-esque type story around the band, and made a demo and such, then the band photos came, then the website..well you see...but bottom line, Gargamel is purely a parody of black metal, rather, it was a good reason behind, i guess we never really meant to make such an specific goal as to really parody it, as rather we just wanted to make some funny songs to show our friends, it just snowballed into something , or an idea, who's time i giuess had come. We never meant to make like some statement about the black metal scene, more than just to really fool around and be silly...so all i can say is ...enjoy....

Some frequently asked questions..
1. Who does all the music:
That would be Jason Suecof, lead guitarist of now dead Capharnaum, basically Jason "composes" all the music, records all of it, and does all the leads, and vocals. There is no bass in any of the songs, since well in black metal you can't here the bass anyways. Tony (that being me) provides some minor imput in the directions of some songs, and writes all the lyrics, you see he grew up on a steady diet of He-Man and Voltron, and video games...so you get the idea. But Jason is the musical muscle behind the band, so any questions about that can be directed at him
2. Who does the drums?
Well if you couldnt have guess, Programus, is basically a PROGRAMMED drum machine, it actually sounds pretty good for a drum machine, back when Gargamel started we wanted inhuman drumming at insane speeds to add to the sillyness of it all...and our drummer Jordan wouldnt have the patience to actually sit and work out a song with us, I dont think anyone would.....
3. Is this serious?
You would be surprised how many people ask me this.
4. Do you play shows?
As much as I would love to, we can't for a few reasons...one being that it would almost be impossible to do so, since like I really don't play drums, we don't know any keyboard players who would do it, and that look like Chip aka Vor. Number 2, Jason is in Florida, and the rest of "Gargamel" is up here in CT. It would take a large amount of money, air fare, new band members, months of practice to pull it off, if anyone wants to fund such an endeavor, go right ahead, but in the mean time, don't hold thy breath.
5. Who really is each member of Gargamel and in the photo's
Well really Gargamel is Tony Espinoza and Jason Suecof, musically. In the photos, Cunnilingimus is played by Shawn Greenlaw., Capharnaum's old bassist, Count Chokulis, Capharnaum's guitarist, Programus, Tony aka Me, NosFatFartu, Jason , Vor , Chip McCabe, a, Relapse Record employee, so if you see him, make sure to talk to him about it.
6. Are you guys signed?
I wish! If any labels are interested in signing what could be the best joke band with unlimited merchandise potential get in touch, but I also fear that us being really signed might be far off, since im sure Gargamel steps on a few copyright laws...but we are so obscure and such that I don't think anyone is taking notice, so I'm not really in a rush to push the band on a label. If any labels want to work something, im all ears! Let's see what happens.
7. Are there more songs available?
Well there were few other songs we did a long ass time ago, but those are forever lost, and really didnt sound much like the new stuff, there is also a song we did last called Rebirth of Hordak, there a limited 4 song version of Legions of Ganon, that had Rebirth of Hordak on it, but it sounded like complete ass, so i didnt want to put it on the cd, Jason has the master copy somewhere in his studio, but don't sit around waiting for it come out, since Jason has better things to do than worry about Gargamel, and im sure he's lost the song or taped over it...but maybe it will come out if an uproar begins....
8. Would you release another cd or tape ?
Like i said before if a label wants to fund us, i will be more than happy to work on another demo or cd or whatever with Jason, that's if he is up to it too, but right now, its not really a priority to any of us, so I guess we will have to do with what is available now. But don't get me wrong, I've got tons of ideas planned, it's just were gonna have to wait.
9. Are thos real reviews in the review section?
No. Since I don't have the cash to finance duplication for 1000 cds, i really cant hand out promos, everything is done one at a time, and believe me it's kinda an annoying process, I see very little profit, if ANY, so I can't afford to send free cds to zines and such, if any Zines out there want to do a Gargamel review, I would be more than happy to, you would have to understand that it would all be done in character.
10. What about your other bands? Who is Capharnaum?
Go to the links sections, and visit those sites, and all will be explained, we are not just limited to Gargamel alone you know!
thats all...you got more, get a hold of us.
