Orlando vs. Birmingham
The bolts don't have the most impressive record, but they're better than you would think. Their main problems are their mediocre defense and bad luck. They have a good passing game. They have a very versatile quarterback. Casey Weldon doesn't run as often as he should, but he has shown he can do it. He's calm under pressure, that'll help against the rage's agressive defense. Their defense is the third best in the league, and their offense is one of the best. Jeff Brohm is an accurate passer who doesn't throw as many touchdowns as he should, but he's not throwing many interceptions. One of Birmingham's weaknesses is their pass coverage, I doubt Brohm will throw any in this game. The rage should win this one easily.
Chicago vs. NY/NJ
Chicago started off slow, but now they're really picking up. This is an important game, both teams are tied for the #2 spot in their division. Chicago's starting to click after their second consecutive win. They have a mediocre quarterback and defense, but the real highlight of this team is John Avery. Avery brought the team to their third win with 170 yards and two touchdowns. He is one of the league's best running backs, but like Ricky Watters in the NFL, he got stuck with a bad team. The Hitmen have the worst offense in the XFL. Their defense is what has saved them. They had problems with their QBs early in the season and Rusty Tillman just doesn't have a very good rushing game going. With many former NFL players, he has lots of talent working for him, he just isn't using anything that'll work for them. But look for Anthony DiCosmo, he has talent, but doesn't get the ball. Unless the NY/NJ defense can pull off a miracle, I think the Chicago Enforcers will win this one.
Los Angeles vs. Memphis
This should be a great offensive game. Los Angeles has the league's best quarterback, Tommy Maddox. Maddox has thrown for 17 TDs this season. He's averaged one interception per game, but that usually happens when you only rush 20 times a game. They have a pretty good defense, but it won't be good enough to stop the Maniax' offense. Look for another good game by Jim Druckenmiller. The former 49ers QB has been on a hot streak lately. There isn't too much else to say except that it should be a high scoring game. I think the LA Xtreme will win this one.
Las Vegas vs. San Fransisco
This should be another exciting game. It should be best game of the week. These are two great teams who are playing for the playoff spot. They're tied at 4-4 and could even get the #1 spot with some luck. Look for another great offensive game from the Outlaws. Their star quarterback, Ryan Clement should do well. His return will take some of the focus off their star running back, Rod "He Hate Me" Smart. Clement's injury didn't have too much of an effect on his game, he should have another good game. The San Fran Demons have a pretty good offense, but I think the Outlaws defense will have no problem shutting it down. I think the Outlaws have the best defense in the league, their defense is what will get them this win.
