AN UNFORGETTABLE JOURNEY
Chapter Thirty-Three
When he entered the room, she stared at him,
her eyes looking right into his soul. "Jack…" she whispered. She just
wanted to say his name. He shut the door before going over to her. He couldn’t
get to her fast enough. He fell onto the bed next to her, then kissed her with
all of the passion and desire that he felt for her. She kissed him back
hungrily. She had missed his kiss so much!
They were both out of breath when they
finally parted. She looked at him, staring into his eyes with every ounce of
her soul. She never imagined that she could feel so connected to another person.
There was something that she desperately needed to tell him. "Jack…I love
you."
He held her face in his hands; his eyes
revealed all of the emotion that he was feeling. "I love you, Rose, more
than life itself. I wish with all of my heart that I had said those words to
you that night on Titanic. That night, when we made love, I knew that I would
love you forever."
She held him tight. "I know that you
loved me, Jack. You didn’t have to say it. I could tell by looking into your
eyes. Don’t think for a moment that I doubted your love for me."
He held her as if he would never let go.
"We have so much to talk about, Rose,
especially the reason that you look so weak and pale. Is it the shock of seeing
me, or is there something else?" he asked.
She swallowed the lump that had formed in her
throat at his words. In all of the excitement of finding him alive, she had
completely forgotten about her pregnancy, and the fact that the baby could be
Cal’s. How could she explain this to Jack? Would he blame her for what Cal had
done to her? She was terrified to tell him. She just couldn’t. Not yet.
"I’m so tired, Jack. Can we just fall asleep together? I’d rather wait
until later before we talk about everything."
He gazed at her for a moment before nodding
his head in agreement.
They got underneath the blankets and fell
asleep in each other’s arms. For the first time since Titanic had left the
world, they both felt truly happy and safe. Little did they know that danger
wasn’t too far behind.

Cal slammed his fist against the table. Mr.
Buff jumped at the noise. "How could you let her get away?" Cal
yelled. His eyes had a red tint to them. He was angry, very angry. "I
hired you to help me, not to mess up my life!" he yelled in rage.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Hockley. But not to
worry, we will find her. In fact, I have good reason to believe that she went
to Chippewa Falls, in Wisconsin," Mr. Buff said, trying to calm his boss
down.
Cal looked at him sharply. "Did you say
Chippewa Falls?"
Mr. Buff nodded. "Yes, sir. A source of
mine said that she left on a train to Chippewa Falls last night."
Cal bit his lip. Will she find that gutter
rat there? He couldn’t let that happen. It would be a disaster if they
found each other. "Mr. Buff, you bring her back here. Do you understand
me? I will not be made a fool of. She is my fiancée and she will marry me next
month!" Mr. Buff started to leave the room. "Wait! We will go to
Chippewa Falls together. I will find her myself. I swear that I will find her
if it’s the last thing I do!"
