ALL’S WELL AS ENDS WELL
Chapter Five
It was noon. I tried to wake Katy
up nicely, but…
"Katy, move it! Move
it!" I screamed, pushing her off the bed.
"Ow!" she said, rubbing
her eyes. "God!"
"Come on. We have to get
dressed and keep an eye on them." After about a half hour, we were finally
dressed. I pinned Katy’s and my hair up in buns so we would blend in. We
slipped outside after having a hard time finding the door. We were kind of
feeling along the wall. Finally, we made it to the deck. "Okay. We have to
leave Jack and Rose alone. They’ll handle this part…I hope," I said.
"So, what do you want to
do?" Katy asked.
"I don’t know," I
replied. "Hey, the party’s in a couple of hours." We plopped down on
the deck chairs. We sat there until we knew they’d be there. "Hey…um…I’ll
check my pockets for something!" I found a lock pick, a white-out pen, a
small reference book, a camera, a few coins, and a decoder.
"This stuff will be of
use!" Katy said. "We’ll need the lock pick to pick the handcuffs off
of Jack, a white-out pen to cover up the name of the guy who really owns the
jacket that he’s going to wear, a decoder to get into the safe. By the way…why
do you have all this in your pockets?"
"Uh…I have my reasons."
"Care to share them?"
Katy asked.
"No!" I shouted.
I looked at my watch. It was time
for the party. I told Katy and we ran as fast as we could, trying not to trip
over the dresses. Finally, we made it to the clock, where Jack was waiting.
"Hi," he said, looking
over at us.
"Before you go, this guy is
going to come down to the lower decks to look for you. So, to help, don’t do
anything to put yourself at the center of attention. Katy and I will keep
watch."
"Thanks," he said. As
we ran off, we saw Rose out of the corner of our eyes.
"Rules," I said to
Katy.
"What kind of rules?"
"Before we go down to the
party, no drinking bets, okay?"
"Okay," she said.
"Okay, then. Come on!"
