ALL’S WELL AS ENDS WELL
Chapter Ten
"Come on!" I said,
urging Jack and Rose forward and into a small room. Then I led them into a
bigger room and into a hallway. We stopped to breathe. But then, Katy turned
around and saw Lovejoy turning the corner.
"Run!" Katy screamed.
We kept turning corners until we came to a lift. I pushed the lever hard. We
climbed aboard and closed the gate just as Lovejoy got there and started
banging on the lift’s gates. As we went down, Rose pointed her finger up at
him.
"Don't look. It's not
good," I said, covering Katy's eyes.
"I'm mature!" Katy
said, pushing my hands off of her eyes. We ran out of the lift, down some
flights of stairs, and into the boiler room. It was very smoky. Katy and I
couldn't see. Soon, we lost track of Jack and Rose, only to bump into them
kissing again. Katy started pushing them. "Come on! Come on! No time for
making out!" Katy said. Soon we came into the cargo hold.
Jack and Rose found the Renault
and got inside it. Katy and I rolled under it. "How long are we supposed
to wait under here?" Katy asked.
"I don’t know." All of
a sudden, we saw Rose's dress and Jack's clothes drop onto the floor. I reached
out and grabbed the clothes.
"What'd you do that
for?" Katy asked.
"So that I can give the
clothes to them when Lovejoy comes," I answered. Time passed by.
"I spy something
white," Katy said.
"Is it that box?" I
answered, bored. We'd been playing this game for half an hour. Suddenly, we
heard loud voices from the far end of the cargo hold. We could hear them. Since
the cargo hold was so big, they had to yell to talk. "Come on!" I
yelled, sitting up fast, but hit my head. "Ow..." I whispered. I
grabbed Jack and Rose's clothes and rolled out from under the Renault. I took a
deep breath, preparing myself for what I was about to see. I slowly opened the
door and closed my eyes. "Come on...let's hurry! They're coming!" I
said, throwing them their clothes "Get dressed!" I felt like a
mother.
Soon, they jumped out of the
Renault.
"Where to?" Rose asked.
"Follow us!" Katy said,
leading the way. We went through a door and waited on the other side of the
door. We heard angry voices on the other side. "Come on!" Katy said,
running onto the deck. When we got up on deck, I spotted Sean.
"Um…hey, Katy, can you watch
Jack and Rose for a while?" I asked.
"Why?" she asked. Then
she spotted Sean. "Oh...okay!" she said, raising her eyebrows. She
turned around and winked.
I walked over to him and tapped
him on the shoulder. At that moment, all of my thoughts disappeared, even the
fact that the ship was going to hit the iceberg soon.
