The Superior Hiking Trail in Western Minnesota

This trail was along the eastern end of Lake Superior, as opposed to the western half I travled before. The trail is over 200 miles long, but we only traveled 90 miles of the middle section, averaging 8 miles a day. The terrain itself was very hilly. The river and mountain views are first rate, for this part of the country, which makes it worthwhile to climb an extra mile to view. This trip I hiked last summer and lasted 14 days with only 4 other companions (which meant more food for all of us ;)

High Falls. This waterfall was one of my favorite rivers to cross. At the top was a rickety steel bridge that threatened to break as we walked across.

The Temperence River, along Temperence State Park. This state park was awesome. At some point this summer, I want to return and camp out in their public camp grounds. This turbulent river gushes out into Lake Superior and sends foam waves out into the lake. A spectacular sight.

Sun setting on Lake Agnes. This gentle lake nestles into the forest with a peaceful solitude and was our first campsite of the trip.

Split Rock River. This beautiful river ran parallel to our last campsite of the trip.
