Absolutism and Relativism

Absolutism

They have a list of rules:
comin from Religion(God, Bible, Ku'ran)
OR
elsewhere

Roman Catholics/Fundamentalists
who say
Abortion IS wrong,
Contraception IS wrong,
Euthanasia IS wrong

(Don't have to think!)

Relativism

For them nothing is absolutely right/wrong;
it all depends on the circumstances

Liberal Christians
who say
Abortion maybe right/wrong
depending on the situation,
Euthanasia maybe the
right couse of action

(Do the most loving thing)

J. Fletcher J. Flether(1905-1991) wrote a book called "Situation Ethics"(1960)which said:
  1. No absolute right/wrong
  2. Every situation is different
  3. Do the most loving thing (What Jesus said)

{Problems?: How does one decide what is the most loving thing?
We all have a different view to what is right/wrong?
Who should we be the most loving to?}

Problems with Absolutism and Relativism

There are exceptions to rules!
for example: It is wrong to murder but it's ok in war??
Are somethings always wrong, like: Rape/ "Sexual abuse", Racism
SO is Relativism wrong???
