You might be wondering how to catch a hacker and/or scammer. The act is simple. All you have to do is catch them doing something wrong, and send an email to abuse@neopets.com However, you have to know what the rules are to know if someone is breaking them. Here are some of the most common situations that you can report people for :
- 1.- Asking for your password in ANY way (through neomail,e-mail,chat board,guild board, or
any other way.)
- 2.-Having a web page claiming to give you money/rare items, if you type in your username and PASSWORD.
- 3.-Having a web page with a fake log in page. These are the hardest to catch. Just look at the URL of any log in page you may suspect. If you see anything other than this: http://www.neopets.com/loginpage.phtml DO NOT enter your username and password!! You have found a fake login screen if you see anything other than that. (This is what you should do: Just copy down the URL in your Address bar, and send it to abuse@neopets.com along with the username of the person and how you got to the fake login page ex.- trough a shop, chat room,trading post etc.)
- 4.- Neomailing you asking for your password. These cases vary, sometimes people pretend to be Neopets staff, they are always liars.Neopets staff will never ask for your password through neomail OR through e.mail!
- 5.-Using any inappropriate language, including profanity (swearing). Remember NEOPETS is a kids site too!
- 6.- Having ANY type of cheat, no matter how convincing, it is against the Terms and Conditions.
- 7.- Selling their account, even if it sounds like a fair deal, this is also against the Terms and Conditions.
- 8.- Any Contest that you may think is suspicious, or the odds are not right. Especially if the values are not evened up, some people may be lying.
(It is against neopets rules to have any contest.)
- 9.-Saying that they want to NEOSIT, This requires you to give them your password and again its against the Terms and Conditions.
- 10.-Asking you to change your e-mail in your "User Preferences" to theirs, and then asking for your username.
