Fire lizards are among the most important inhabitants of Pern, if only because they were the basis of dragons. They love music, Ruth, and their owners, and they're also really cute!
The Fire Lizard Song
The little queen all golden
Flew hissing at the sea
Against each wave
Her clutch to save

As she attacked the sea in rage
A holderman came nigh
