A ROLLER PENDULUM AND ACTIVE STRUCTURAL RESPONSE
When the fundamental period of a pendulum is tuned to that of a building, the pendulum mass moves in opposite direction to the building, which is effective for suppressing the building vibration. However, the length of the suspension must be increased to lengthen its vibration period as the height of the building increases; if the building is particularly tall, the pendulum must be installed on a floor with a sufficiently high ceiling. With the TRIGON device, the pendulum weight with V-shaped rail moves on rollers in a pendulum-like motion. This approach permits the size of the device to be significantly reduced, and made much smaller than a suspended pendulum device. In the TRIGON device, the weight's movement is actively and forcely controlled by an electric motor to reduce the building vibration, so the required weight if auxiliary mass is just 1/400 of the building weight. |

FOR SUPERIOR COMFORT IN HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS
Suppresses unplesant shaking caused by strong winds by more than 50% By tuning the vibration period of the weight to the fundamental period of a building, TRIGON can suppress the vibration effectively, that makes the shaking motion introduced by typhoons and early spring storms imperceptible to the occupants. An energy efficient, space-saving system. Since the system is compact, it doesn't need large space for installation. It also consumes small amounts of electricity for operation Quiet operation. Friction and vibration noises during the system operation are considerably reduced by the precise manufacturing processes. Vibration isolators prevent the transmission of noise and vibration to living quarters. Low-cost installation The TRIGON system can be installed for only about 0.5% of overall construction costs. For this low initial cost, a comfortable environment can be ensured. |
