Yamucha: Through the years, Yamucha matured into something deeper and stronger than he ever was before. The carelessness and womanizing developed into a thoughtful, sincere, passionate personalitly. His determination never wavered however, and when he set his sights on something, he wasn’t about to back down. When he couldn’t have what he wanted, he became increasingly depressed, almost to the point of suicide, because he couldn’t have her. Though a certain amount of anger and bitterness remains in his heart, his love is as strong as ever. Yamucha is passionate and determined, and a very emotional person who doesn’t quite know how to deal with pain.

ChiChi: She was torn up inside after Gokuu died, left alone and pregnant. Without him in her life, by her side, she was almost too depressed to go on, but knew she had to, for the baby, and for Gohan as well. Her family was absolutely everything to her, Gokuu especially had a very strong hold on her heart. After being so depressed and sad about the death of her husband, she welcomed Yamucha’s friendship with open arms, and sought to find some sort of comfort in him. Although she had her chance to have a family again, it simply wasn’t was she wanted. She loved Gokuu, even after his death, and knew that no one could ever take his place.

Status: Unrequited Love. Near the time when Gokuu was killed by Cell, Yamucha began to have loving feelings for ChiChi. He kept it all inside, clear through her pregnancy and after Goten’s birth, knowing that if he said anything, ChiChi would be hurt and confused. During that time, the love that he had for her grew into something very special and dear to him, something that only he knew about. He kept it all inside until he couldn’t keep it in any longer, which was ultimately his downfall. The love he had for her was simply not reciprocated, and no matter what Yamucha did, it never would be. ChiChi wanted to fall in love with Yamucha, and let go of the sadness and love that she had in her heart after Gokuu, but she couldn’t make herself fall for him. He still remained very dear to her, however, and she cared a lot about his feelings and his well being. However angry and bitter Yamucha was after ChiChi told him they could never have a relationship, he still loved her very much and foolishly hoped for a chance. His love for her only grew, even after Gokuu had come back to life and taken his place at ChiChi’s side again. Yamucha would do absolutely anything for ChiChi, and views her and the love he has in his heart for her, as everything good in his life.
