Tayhei stared down at the girl, almost a full foot below her in height. Her hair was tied up in ponytails on each side of her head in pink bows. She was disgustingly, threateningly cute, and she was getting on Tayhei's nerves.
The take off from Earth had been extremely bumpy and a little bit frightening, considering the fact that there was nothing to hold them down. The two of them had been tossed around like ping pong balls and almost been knocked out more than a few times by the boxes that weren’t tied down.
Once things had settled down, and they had taken a seat in their hiding place again, Marron took the initiative to introduce herself to Tayhei, and told her a little about herself. Tayhei listened, of course, but through the whole time, was deciding just how to extract revenge on her. She hated her already.
She hated the fact that Marron seemed to be such good friends with Goten and Trunks, but now that she thought of it….That might provide her with quite an angle. Every time Goten’s name had been mentioned in Marron’s previous speech, Marron tended to blush, which was a sure sign that the girl was infatuated with him. Tayhei might not be that interested in love, but she knew that Marron was, and if she planned things just right, she might be able to use that to her advantage.
She sighed. "Listen. Muffin---"
"Marron. My name is Marron. M-A-R-R-O-N. Marron." She interrupted, her eyes wide and innocent.
Tayhei wanted to scream at her. As if this impudent little girl didn’t know that she had forgotten her name on purpose. It was a trick she used on almost everyone: if you don't take the time to remember their name, it makes them feel unimportant and stupid. Either Marron was incredibly dumb or she was honestly innocent about mind games and status.
Tayhei dismissed her correction with a wave of the hand. "Whatever. I'm so glad you can spell." She gave Marron a condescending smirk.
“You know, you aren’t very nice.” Marron observed, pulling her mouth into a frown.
“And you aren’t very smart, but I’m not complaining, now am I?”
Marron’s eyes widened in anger and she stood to her feet. “I am not stupid!”
Tayhei looked up at her disdainfully, but inside she was practically jumping up and down at the wonderful opportunity Marron had just given her. “Stupid? No. Goten is stupid. You’re merely not smart.”
Marron placed her hands on her hips. “That is an awful thing to say! Goten is not stupid, and he is going to be a big help on this mission!”
Tayhei snorted and rolled her eyes. "Goten is an impudent, idiotic slouch who can't even find his way out of his own backyard. To assume that he will actually be able to find his mother is pure idiocy." She informed her.
"Goten is a wonderful boy!" Marron exclaimed, her cheeks growing hot with anger and embarrassment.
Tayhei slowly stood to her feet, brushing her white dress off with her hands and looking down at Marron.
"You must have hearing problems; I never said he wasn't a wonderful boy I remarked that he was an impudent, idiotic slouch---" Tayhei reminded her, speaking slowly as if Marron couldn't understand her.
"I heard you the first time!" Marron snapped, feeling stupid, and angry with Tayhei for making her feel that way. "Goten is not an idiot!"
"I see." A smile played on Tayhei's lips. "So you don't deny the other accusations?"
The anger snapped right into blind rage and Marron actually raised her fists and brought her face close to Tayhei's; a near impossible feat, considering her height. "Just don't get in my way." She snarled.
Tayhei pushed Marron away from her quickly but gently with one hand. "No need for violence, Muffin. I am merely joking around.”
“I actually like Goten very much.” Tayhei continued. She smiled. “Very much.”
Marron seemed to freeze, and looked up at her with a nervous expression. “You….you do?”
“Oh yes. Very.”
“Have you….” Marron began, then trailed off, looking forlorn.
“Have we….?”
“I mean, you haven’t….Did you….?”
“Did we what?” Tayhei asked, putting an emphasis on the word ‘we’. She grinned. “If you’re trying to imply what I think you are, the answer is….”
Marron’s eyes grew frantic, and she clasped her hands in front of her, almost in prayer position. Tayhei was all set to lie to the girl, but there was so much desperation in her eyes that it was more than Tayhei could take.
She must really care about him. Tayhei thought. She never really put stock into things like love, but there was something holding her back. She blinked her green eyes once, and then continued speaking.
“No.”
Marron let out a sigh of relief and Tayhei thought that the girl just might reach out and hug her. She stepped back from her and smiled.
“But there’s always tomorrow.”
