A
Midsummer Night's Dream Update
Presented by SMARTER THAN
SMOKING
It
is just over a month since the production of A Midsummer Nights Dream
was launched and what a month it has been!
There was a tremendous turnout
of newcomers and faces-of-old at auditions!
Professional Director, Jenny McNae, and our two Associate Directors, Jo
Merrey and Sue Abell put everyone through their paces on a closed set in groups
of four. This meant that auditions
stretched over two days and allowed everybody interested an opportunity to show
what they were capable of!
Cast
your eye over this cast:
Bob
Stevens, John Middleton, Josette Morgan, Tim Barr, Derek Clarke, James Toop,
Kristin Kleinig, Jenna Antoniolli, Andrew Dean, Leigh Scott, Chris Barr, Ray
Foster, Tristan Baldwin, Joe Young, Brad Oversby, Dimity Wehr, Phil Shelton,
Heather Fink, Jo Mead, Victoria Young, Patricia Lloyd, Glenda Anderson, Jude
Olney, Lisa Ellett, Tim Donovan, Bruce Leggett, Dave Steele. What a list!
Surely everyone in town would know someone in the show!
SETTING THE SCENE
The
familiar barren shell of the cleared stage has rapidly transformed
into a mystical wood! The design and carpentry skills of the set team have
certainly been put to good use. But how will the setting change to an
Athenian Court? You will just have to come and see!
Flora
Yetman has once again assembled a motivated (and very cheeky at times- try
having a fitting in front of them) team of seamstresses to work some magic with
the costumes. The designs are original, impressive and well on their
way to completion!
You
may well see a few cast members drumming up interest for the show around
town in the coming weeks! Find out more about the performance from
the radio and in the Esperance Express and Kalgoorlie Miner. Let your
friends know and perhaps get a group going!
Tickets
will be available at Civic Video from March the 18th. The performances
will commence at 8pm:

Come
and see the regal court of Athens, the star-crossed young lovers, the
mischievous Robin Goodfellow, the battle of wills between Oberon and Titania-
King and Queen of the Fairies, the comical Nick Bottom and band of unlikely
thespians...
Laugh
at the absurdity! Bask in the beauty of the language. "A
Midsummer Night's Dream" is one of Shakepeare's best loved works and
you will see why!
Don't
leave it until the last minute! We always have people disappointed that
they put off
getting tickets
until there were none left!
DIRECTORS
WORKSHOPS
Jenny
McNae has offered to run a Directors Workshop. This will be a unique opportunity
for those new and old to directing to have top class tuition from this prominent
and experienced thespian. It would
run for a few hours on Saturday 23rd March with drinks and nibbles
afterwards, with the cost being $20 members, $25 non members.

FUTURE
PRODUCTIONS FOR 2002
At
this stage, the rest of the year is virtually open slather!
Although, there is a rumour going around that a certain Librarian has a

committee is yet to receive a formal submission, but watch this space!
If
there are any other great ideas floating around out there, please forward your
