Nick walked up to Nerine’s door with a bunch of wild flowers in his hands. He knew she hated roses and all those petite little flowers. He rang the doorbell and waited. The door swung open and Michael was standing there looking at Nick. They looked very much alike they were the same height they both had blonde hair and blue eyes. ‘Hey you must be Michael.’ ‘Yeah that’s me aight. Nick is suppose?’ ‘Yeah.’ ‘Sorry I’m a tard come in.’ ‘Thanks. Where’s Nerine?’ ‘She’s still asleep. You can go to her room, sure she wouldn’t mind.’ ‘Okay thanks.’
Nick walked to Nerine’s room his heart beating faster with every step he took. He hadn’t seen her in ages and now to see her pregnant too would be something to get used to. He opened the door a little and saw her lying on the bed asleep, walking up to the bed he placed a light kiss on her forehead. ‘Mike go away.’ ‘It’s not Mike it’s Nick.’ ‘Oh hey Nick. Um gimme a second lemme just wake up properly here.’ ‘Yeah you forget that I know how you can be sometimes.’ ‘Ah shut up.’ ‘Yes ma’am.’
Nick looked her up and down and his eyes rested on her stomach which was really big. ‘Yeah I know Nick you can say it. I’m fat and ugly and unattractive and all the rest that you can think of.’ ‘Actually I was gonna tell ya that I thought you look beautiful and your glowing.’ ‘Yeah right.’ ‘I’m serious I wouldn’t lie to you.’ She gave him a skeptical look and he just smiled at her. ‘I missed your smile did you know that?’ ‘I missed the whole you did you know that?’ ‘I was dumb and scared and everything all at once I’m sorry for what I did. It’s just finding out I was gonna have a baby and then thinking about it and my mind went all wild and I did something stupid.’ ‘It’s not your fault I mean I completely understand I should have been more supportive and instead of saying that I couldn’t be here I should have put more effort in made you feel more wanted I’m sorry, really but I’ll die if I have to go on without you and I mean that.’
‘Can we just like start over or pick up where we left off?’ ‘Yeah please it would make me the happiest man alive I swear.’ ‘Okay.’ ‘So um…bout the baby have you got any sonar pictures with you?’ ‘Yeah I do hang on I’ll get them.’ ‘No tell me where they are and I’ll get them.’ ‘On the table there.’ ‘Okay.’
Nick brought the pics over and sat on the bed next to Nerine. ‘So do you know what it is yet?’ ‘No as a matter of fact the baby always seemed to turn when I went to the doctor so that we couldn’t see, weird I know but if your asking me I think it’s a boy.’ ‘I hope it’s a boy. Cause the boy must come first then the girls cause then the boy can look after them.’ ‘Who said anything about more children?’ ‘You mean your stopping at one?’ ‘I dunno haven’t thought about it. And I mean who says we’re still gonna be together?’ ‘Well I was getting to that damn woman.’ ‘What?’ ‘Okay well I was gonna do this the day that we came back from tour but then you broke up with me so I’ve had it ever since and I wanna do it now because I want you to know just how much I care about you and how much I love you and our baby.’ ‘Nick what are you on about?’ ‘Nerine will you be my wife?’
Nerine looked at him as he took a teddy bear out of the bag he had been carrying. Taking the ring off the teddy’s arm he held it in his hand and looked into her eyes. He could see she was crying and all she could do was nod her head. ‘Is that a yes?’ ‘Yes.’
Nick smiled from ear to ear and slipped the ring onto her finger. She admired the platinum and diamond ring looking up at him. ‘It’s beautiful.’ ‘I hoped you’d like it see I remembered you said you hated gold so I didn’t get you gold.’ Nerine leaned over and silenced him with a kiss, which soon turned passionate. Eventually she pulled away. ‘Damn girl I missed that.’ ‘Yeah me too.’ ‘Well get up we gotta go out today. So I wanted to chat to you…um will you move in with me?’ ‘Yeah sure well kinda ya know we are officially engaged.’ ‘Just checking peace. We gotta get one of the rooms in my sorry our house turned into a nursery. You haven’t started a nursery here yet have you?’ ‘No didn’t feel like it but now I guess I’d better get started on it.’ ‘Have you bought anything for the baby?’ ‘Nothing at all like I said I haven’t been feeling very well and that left me in a non-shopping mood so we can go get it today and I mean actually it’s better that I didn’t go get anything because now we can get it together, makes it more special.’ ‘Yeah so get dressed and let’s go.’ ‘Okay gimme 15 mins okay.’ ‘Yeah I’ll be out in the lounge.’ ‘K.’
Nerine got outta bed and got dressed in jeans and a tank top. She strolled out into the living room to be attacked by her brothers kisses. ‘Nick told me and congrads I couldn’t wait for the two of you to come to your senses. Now go shopping and get your stuff moved and put this place into the market and get this marriage come relationship thing sorted out and be a happy family.’ ‘Yes Mike but I’m not putting this apartment up for sale. You can stay here if you wanna.’ ‘Nah it’s okay I’ll go back to my place.’ ‘Mike stay here.’ ‘You sure?’ ‘Yes I’m sure.’ ‘Thanks Reenie.’ ‘Only a pleasure bro. So Nick lets go and get some shopping done.’ ‘Okay see ya Mike.’ ‘See ya bro. Bye Reenie.’ ‘Bye Mike.’
