-Their Game-

Chapter 6- 5 nights later

Memphis looked at herself in the mirror, her black dress falling above her knees. The sleeves cut off above her upper arm. Her hair, naturally curly, fell around her shoulders, pinned up loosely behind her head. Her silver earrings dangled and she giggled in spite of herself.

The doorbell rang and Memphis looked up, taking a deep breath. Butterflies filled her stomach as they normally did at the prospect of seeing Nick. Nick Carter, her boyfriend.

The thought was till hard to fathom. She smiled when she heard Joel answer the door, pretty familiar with Nick by this point.

Nick and Memphis had pretty much gotten together every day this past week. Memphis had her doubts their relationship would last however. 1. Nick still hadn’t kissed her. She wasn’t upset or anything but she figured Nick was a little more touchy feely (not to mention sexual) then he was letting on. And 2. Nick was going on tour in two days. And that would be that.

“Mem, Nick’s here,” Joel leaned in the room and stopped when he saw her, “Damn sis, you look fine…”

Memphis blushed, “Thanks, I’ll be right out,” Joel nodded and made his way to leave but Memphis called to him, “Joel?”

“Hm?” He asked, turning to her.

“Do you like Nick?” She asked softly, playing with the him of her dress.

“Of course I do,” Joel nodded, meeting her eyes, “What’s wrong sis?” Catching that she was asking an underlying question.

“I just… I’m not his type…” Memphis shrugged, “And I don’t understand why he’s even with me.”

“Oh come on Mem, you’re gorgeous!” Joel stepped forward and took her hand, “I know you’ve had boy problems before but Nick’s not like that. He can see how beautiful you really are.” Joel pulled her in for a hug.

Memphis smiled at him, tears forming in her eyes. Her brother was so good to her. Bother brothers where.

“Are y’all gonna keep Nick waiting all night?” Benji asked, coming into the room.

Joel and Memphis broke apart, laughing. “Come on, I’ll stall him so you can fix up your makeup!” He wrinkled his nose a little and walked out of the room laughed.

Memphis quickly composed her self and straightened her shoulders. Joel was right, Nick wasn’t like the others. Nick cared for her. He wouldn’t ever hurt her. And he wouldn’t be an ass like the others. Or… so she thought.
