*~The Dream Of A Lifetime~*

Chapter 7

Nickolas climbed out of the shower and heard the front door close. He grabbed a towel and wrapped it around him. Thinking it was just Valondra he walked from the bathroom and went downstairs. He walked to the kitchen, but didn’t see anyone then started towards the parlor. He saw a dark-haired girl sitting on the sofa and he smiled.

“Loni.”

“I was wondering when you were going to join me.” The girl stood up and turned around.

“Bridgett! What the hell are you doing here?”

“Came to see how my boyfriend’s doing. Is that a crime?”

“When the guys not your boyfriend. How the hell did you get in here?”

“The door was open.”

“Bullshit.” She just smiled. “Get out before I have you arrested.”

“Now you wouldn’t do that to the love of your life.” She walked towards him. “Would you?”

Nickolas picked the phone up. “Don’t make this difficult, Bridgett. I’ll give ya ten seconds to leave and I won’t call the police.”

“Nick, Honey.” She took the phone from him. “You’re the one making this difficult. Don’t run away from your true feelings. I can give you something you’ve been craving for so long.” Nickolas looked at her very annoyed and she took off her dress. He rolled his eyes and looked away. She stood in front of him and he walked away.

“Put your clothes on and leave.”

“Nick, you know you want this.”

“What I want is for you to leave.”

“I’m the only one who can give it to you.” She took her hands down his chest. “Loni can’t satisfy you the way I can.”

He grabbed her wrists. “Don’t touch me again. It’s over between us so get that through your thick skull. I’m with Loni. I’m happy with Loni. I’m in love with Loni and she satisfies me. You do anything to hurt her I swear you’ll be sorry.” He glared at her and left her go, as a door shut.

“Nicky, you here, Baby?” Valondra’s voice echoed through the house.

“I’m in the parlor, Princess,” Nickolas replied.

“Perfect,” Bridgett said. “Loni’s here. When she sees us like this she’ll break up with you.”

“Get dressed and leave,” Nickolas demanded.

“Just one more thing,” Bridgett said and Nickolas looked at her.

“Nick, I’ve been thinking a lot about last night,” Valondra said from the hall and Nickolas looked. Bridgett just looked at Nickolas then kissed him, as

Valondra walked in saying, “And I’ve decided I want us…” Valondra didn’t finish, as she saw Nickolas and Bridgett kissing. “Fuck.” Nickolas pushed Bridgett away, as Valondra dropped the picnic basket she was holding. “I think I’m going to be sick.” She ran out of the parlor and Nickolas ran after her.

“Loni!” Nickolas yelled. He caught up with her in the foyer just as she opened the door. He grabbed her and spun her around. “Give me a minute to explain. I love you, Princess.”

“I hate you!” She slapped him across the face.

“Lon, you know I would never do anything to hurt you.”

“There’s a lie. I was so stupid to believe anything you said to me.”

“I never lied to you. Bridgett kissed me and I was trying to get her out of here.”

“So you wouldn’t get caught. I understand.”

“Loni, I love you so much.”

“Touching,” Bridgett said. “Makes me want to cry.”

“Shut up, Bridgett,” Nickolas warned, as Valondra walked over to her.

“Please, Valondra,” Bridgett started, “no need to congratulate me over my win. Just going after what I want.”

“I would never congratulate you,” Valondra said punching her with the same broken hand and she winced in pain. “If I ever see your ugly mug again I can promise you that I’ll do more than punch you in the face.”

“I’m scared,” Bridgett said sarcastically.

“You better be,” Valondra said walking away. “Damn it.”

“Loni D,” Nickolas said grabbing her before she went out the door. He went to look at her hand and she pulled it away.

“Don’t…don’t touch me.”

“May I please explain?”

“I already understand, Nick. You and Bridgett deserve each other.”

“You have it all wrong, Baby. I love you and want to be with you.”

“You never wanted me, Nick.”

“Yes I did.”

“No you didn’t. You just wanted the luxury of having a pretty girl on your arm when you went out and your picture was taken. That’s all you wanted and last night should’ve proven that to me when you couldn’t even have any respect for me.”

“I do respect you, Valondra.”

“No you don’t.”

“I love you.” She shook her head and he just looked at her.

“Remember how you said you’d die if you ever lost me?”

“Yeah; I definitely would.”

“I thought you’d like to know, you just did.” She pulled her hands away again and she went to walk out.

“You can’t mean that.” Nickolas grabbed her from behind and got in front of her. “I love you.”

“I do and don’t ever touch me again.” She released herself from Nickolas’ hold and went out the door. Nickolas stood there a second taking in what Valondra said then went out the door after her. He got to her car, right before she got in, and said, “Loni, I’m begging you to let me explain what happened.” Valondra got in her car saying, “If I ever see you again it’ll be too soon. Good bye, Nickolas.” She closed the door and Nickolas watched her drive away.

He stood there alone before he heard Bridgett, “My work here is done. I guess I can leave now.” Nickolas glared at her, as she walked to her car. She opened the door while saying, “I only did this, Nick, because I love you. I stopped you from making the biggest mistake of your life.”

“You’re a bitch, Bridgett,” Nickolas said. “You don’t know the first thing about love. You devote your time to destroy other people’s lives just like you destroyed your own.”

“I actually did you a favor.”

“You want to do me a favor, Bridgett? Leave me the hell alone and leave my fiancée alone too.”

“I’ll see ya around, Nick.” She got in her car.

“I’m warning you, Bridgett, you do anything to hurt Valondra I’ll make you sorry.”

“That is what is known as an empty threat, Nick.”

“It’s not a threat. It’s a promise.”

“You really think you’re going to be happy with her? She’s a spoiled rich bitch.”

“You know nothing about her or what kind of family she comes from. You’re just pissed, because you wasted almost six years of your life behind bars. If you didn’t try to kill me then you probably could be happy right now.”

“I can be happy once you take me back.”

“It’s never going to happen so forget it. I’m in love with Valondra.”

“You just think you are.”

“I am. Why don’t you just leave? You just got out of prison a few months ago; do you really want to go back?”

“Like I said, I’ll see ya around.” She closed her door and drove off.

“I doubt that.” He stood there a moment thinking then ran back into the house to get dressed, so he could go find Valondra.
