The girls walked around the area where Valondra lived the next afternoon. They were actually on the same block where Valondra ran into the Backstreet Boys. They all stood around at the spot, as Valondra retold them the whole story of how it actually happened that beautiful day after school. “Ain’t it funny how you remember those little details?” Lillie asked. “Loni’ describing what they each wore that day. I couldn’t even remember that.” “It is funny,” Rachel said. “Lon, remember that time we got into that stupid fight?” “Oh my God, yeah,” Valondra said. “We like decked each other and stayed mad for, like, a few hours.” “You got all mad, because you thought Loni was shacking it up with Brian after the concert,” Antoinette replied, as they all laughed. “That was some stupid shit,” Rachel said. “At least I didn’t try to break you and Nick up like some certain redhead we all know, but won’t mention.” “I think that was like the bitchiest thing she could ever do to someone,” Valondra stated. “I introduced her to Kevin and that’s the thanks I get.” “With friends like that who needs enemies,” Antoinette said. “Exactly,” the all said. “Excuse me a minute,” Valondra said, as she spied a few people she knew. She walked over to the one shop, faced the other four girls and leaned up against the building. The group walked by and talking loud enough so they could hear her she said, “I finally get back home after being away for a few months and I don’t even get one hello from my friends.” They stopped and turned around and looked at Valondra. “At least I know they’re not using me for the BSB or *NSync.” “Loni!” they yelled and ran over to her. They shared a hug and Fox picked her up and spun her around. “Loni D,” Fox said and she smiled. “Ok you can put me down now,” Valondra said. “When did you get back?” Fox asked. “Yesterday,” Valondra replied. “I know what you’re going to say so don’t even. I spent the evening with Nick since we hardly ever get anytime together.” “That’s cool,” Fox stated and hugging her again. “Did ya miss me?” “Are you kidding?” Fox said. “I spent the whole summer without my best friend,” the blonde girl said. “Sorry, dude,” Valondra apologized, as she motioned for the others to come over. “You guys remember Charisma, Alyssa, and Storm, right?” “Yeah,” Antoinette said. “And of course we remember Fox,” Ariel said. “How’s it going, Ladies?” Fox asked. “Good,” the girls said in unison. “So how’s life with Alex, Toni?” Alyssa asked. “Sore subject there, Lys,” Valondra said. “It’s alright, Lon,” Toni said. “I’m not with Alex anymore actually. I am now with Justin Timberlake.” “And Kevin ain’t with Farah anymore either,” Rachel said. “But we’ll talk about that later, it’s a long story.” “We’re actually heading back up to Orlando,” Valondra began, “if you guys want to tag along.” “Are you serial, dude?” Charisma asked. “Yeah,” Valondra replied. “So what do ya say? You can get the chance to meet the BSB and maybe *NSync if they’re still hanging out.” “Now how can I say no to that?” Storm asked. “Any chance I have of meeting Lance I am so there. I’m so with you.” “What about the rest of you?” Valondra asked. “Charisma, you get to meet Howie and, Alyssa, you get to meet Brian. Possibly see Howie D with his shirt off.” “Valondra,” Lillie said. “Don’t encourage them.” “Why not?” Valondra questioned. “Are you guys coming or not?” “Yeah,” they said, as some ‘stranger’ bumped into Charisma. “Watch it,” Charisma snapped. “Sorry,” they said without showing their face and continued walking. “Whatever,” Charisma said. “Some people are so rude.” “Let’s go,” Antoinette said. “We told them we’d be back at, like, three and it’s past three. They might be worried.” “Then let’s go,” Rachel agreed, as they began to walk back to Valondra’s to get their car. “Hey, Loni D,” Fox said and she looked at him, as they slowed their pace. “What’s up?” Valondra asked. “Is Nick treating ya good?” Fox wanted to know. “Oh yeah,” Valondra answered. “That’s good.” “He prepared a picnic for us on the beach last night and it was really romantic.” “Are you happy?” “Yeah.” She smiled. “I’m totally happy.” “I’m glad you are.” “Are you with anyone?” “Nope.” “What happened to what’s her name?” “Kelly Jo?” “I guess that’s what her name was.” She laughed. “We didn’t last after the first date.” “I’m sorry.” “We had nothing in common.” “Has there been anyone else?” “Nope, I’ve been playing the single game. I’m actually loving it. I have no one to answer to and I can do whatever I want to and not care.” “Those were the times.” “Do you miss them?” “Can’t say that I do.” “At least you’re happy and that’s all that matters.” She nodded and smiled, as they approached her house.
