Chapter Thirty-Four
Kaci and Kaley go to the Ritz and Kaci goes to check in to the hotel while Kaley contacts A.J.
“We’re here Alex,” Kaley says when A.J. answers his phone.
“Alright, I’m leaving her room now.”
“Tell Nick I’ll call him when we get up to the room.”
“Okay, we’ll see you soon.”
A.J. and Kaley hang up and Kaley goes inside to join Kaci.
“Did you call Nick?” Kaci asks.
“Not yet. That was my friend in California that I haven’t talked to in a while.”
“Oh, but that was a short conversation,” Kaci says.
“Yeah, I told them that I was busy helping you and that I’d call them back later when I wasn’t busy.”
“Are you sure because I mean I don’t mind,” Kaci says walking toward the elevators.
“Yeah, I’m positive, and really I don’t mind! Besides, I’m curious to see what the reason is that we’re here at the Ritz-Carlton!”
“You and me both sister,” Kaci says as they step onto the elevator.
Kaci and Kaley go up to the fourth floor and look for room 421.
“This sure is an awful long walk,” Kaci says as her and Kaley walk to the room.
“I know! This room you’re in better be nice!”
“Well, we’re about to find out,” Kaci says as she stops in front of the door to Room 421.
Kaci opens the door to Room 421 and walks in to a room lit by candlelight and a song that sounds extremely familiar to her.
“That song, it’s so beautiful!” Kaley says closing the door behind her.
“No, it can’t be, this is like impossible!” Kaci says as she walks around the room. “Kaley girl, come look at this!”
Kaley walks into the bedroom to find a room full of red and white roses, rose petals everywhere, candles lit and two huge “I Love You” balloons.
“Kaci, this is gorgeous! Any idea who came up with this?”
“I have my suspicions, especially with the music!”
Kaley walks over to the closet and opens it to find the wedding dress A.J. told her about.
“Oh My God! Kaci, you haven’t seen this yet I’m guessing!” Kaley says when she sees the dress and how gorgeous it is.
“Seen what?” Kaci asks walking over to where Kaley is. “Oh My God!”
“You aren’t getting married are you?” Kaley jokingly suggests.
“No! I’m just as confused and shocked as you are!”
“There’s gotta be something around here somewhere explaining all of this!” Kaley says starting to look for something A.J. might have left for Kaci.
“I haven’t seen anything!”
Kaley walks out to the living room of the hotel room and finds a note from A.J.
“I found something!” Kaley yells from the room.
“What is it? What does it say?” Kaci says coming out of the bedroom.
Kaley opens the note and reads it to Kaci.
Jessica,
I’m sure the second you saw the room and how I have it decorated for you, you didn’t see this right away! I hope you found what I bought for you. I know it will fit you perfectly! I want you to wear it tonight – have Kaley help you put it on.
I miss you my love and can’t wait to see you.

“Who the hell?! Is this some sick joke?” Kaci says grabbing the note from Kaley.
“I don’t know, I’m going to go call Nick, I’ll be right back,” Kaley says walking out on to the balcony.
Kaley calls Nick but A.J. answers the phone.
“Well?” he asks.
“Well? She is going to kill you!”
“Really? I did that good?”
“Yes you did! Rub some of that romance in you off on Nick because this is gorgeous!”
“Does she suspect it’s me?”
“She might. I don’t think you should have done the music you did. That probably gives it away.”
“Damn, Nick was right then if that’s the case!”
“Well, I’m going to go help her get the dress on so tell Nick to text me at the time you want me to leave and I’ll meet you down in the lobby.”
“Alright, will do! And if she’s surprised like hell that it’s me, everything went as planned! Thanks Kaley!”
“Alright, I’ll see you in a few!”
Kaley and A.J. hang up and Kaley goes back inside.
“Have you seen the view out there? It’s gorgeous!” Kaley says when she walks back inside.
“Nope, haven’t seen the view. What’s the dress for? Like what’s the point of it?”
“I don’t know, but maybe I should help you get it on since Nick said he would be here soon!”
“Yeah, that would be the smart thing to do! That dress looks extremely hard to get on!”
Kaci and Kaley go into the bedroom to put the dress on.
“Do you need help with makeup or anything?” Kaley asks once Kaci gets the dress on.
“Maybe we should have done the makeup before I got the dress on!”
“It’s okay, I can do it with the dress on, it’s not a problem!”
“Alright, if you say so,”Kaci says.“What do you think I should do with my hair?”
“I got my crimper and straightener you want me to do that?”
“Yeah! Straighten it then crimp it, otherwise it won’t look good!”
“Alright,” Kaley says going to get her straightener and crimper.
Kaley goes to get the stuff to do Kaci’s hair and texts Nick.

Hurry up & call me – Alex’s plan is running late!
8:26pm 4/26/03
Kaley goes back into where Kaci is to help do her hair.
“I wonder what happened to Nick, he said he would be here soon!”
“He probably got lost,” Kaci says laughing.
Kaley does Kaci’s hair and just as she finishes, Nick calls her.
“I’m here are you ready?” Nick says acting like he was really picking Kaley up.
“Yeah, I’ll be down in a minute,” Kaley says then hangs up.
“Thanks for helping me, I owe you,” Kaci says getting up and giving Kaley a hug.
“Oh, it was not a problem. Let me know what all this hoopla was about!”
“I will!”
Kaley leaves and Kaci goes out to the living room of the hotel room and watches TV. Ten minutes later her phone rings.
“Hey girl,” Kaci says answering her phone.
“Hey, I forgot something in your room, we didn’t get very far so we’re heading back, I should be there in like five minutes, is that okay?”
“Yeah girl, just call me when you get back here!”
“Alright, I’ll see you in a few.”
Kaci and Kaley hang up and A.J. gets ready to go surprise Kaci.
“So everything is in place and she doesn’t have a clue, right?”
“As far as I know. How much time do I have to get ready?”
“You’ll have plenty of time. Jess and I aren’t going to be down in the ballroom until at least 9:15pm at the earliest.”
