Chapter 41

After a while of talking with Regina’s grandparents he excused himself to get something to eat and find some of the guys. Once he’d filled a plate of food he found Swifty, Proof and Kon standing with another younger looking guy that he hadn’t met yet. He shared many of Regina’s features so he figured this must have been her brother. He walked up to the group and nodded to the guy.

“Hey, you must be Marshall, I’m Enrique, Regina’s brother, nice to meet you,” he said holding out a hand to shake Marshall’s.

“How you doing?” Marshall replied with a firm handshake.

“Pretty good. So this is the Marshall Mathers, I’ve heard some good things about you, especially from Regina,” he replied.

“Thanks, Enricky,” Marshall replied awkwardly.

“Don’t worry about it, everyone calls me Ricky anyway.” Ricky laughed.

“Regina told me you were into dance, right?” Marshall asked, not being able to suppress a grin.

“Ha ha, very funny. Only the traditional Spanish dances, the samba, the cha cha, the tango. And you would not believe the chicks I get because I can dance.” Ricky added.

“What exactly got you into it anyways though?” Proof asked with a smile.

“My Abuelo, he thought that I needed to learn how to woo the women. But it works.” Ricky replied with a grin.

“All right, who is making fun of my brother who can tango?” Regina asked as she approached the group. She draped an arm around Proof and Swifty’s shoulders.

“Uh, no one, except your man over there, he seems to think that dancing is a girlie thing, don’t ya Marshall?” Proof asked.

“Oh really?” Regina asked with a raised eyebrow.

“I was not making fun of him,” Marshall stated firmly.

“That’s okay, no body believes me until they see me in action, what do you say Regina, you be my partner for this next dance?” Ricky asked.

“Of course, anything to wipe the smug look off my boyfriend’s disbelieving face.” Regina replied removing her arms and turning to the small dance floor they had set up in the backyard. Ricky followed her to the floor and changed the CD in the player.

The guys turned and walked up to the edge of the dance floor to watch the show. They couldn’t believe their eyes as Ricky and Regina flew around the floor, their feet moving faster than they could keep up with. Marshall watched Regina intently, her body graceful as she moved to the music. He couldn’t get over how she moved, how comfortable she felt in the strains of the music.

By the time the song ended a group had gathered around to watch them dance. The crowd applauded and they bowed before stepping off the floor. The guys watched amazed as Ricky went to the group of giggling neighbor girls and took one on each arm. He turned and winked at the guys before finding a table to entertain his guests at.

“So, what did you think of that?” Regina asked. They all looked at her with stunned glances.

“I have got to learn how to do that,” Proof said impressed.

“I’m sure Ricky would be glad to teach you, for a price of course,” Regina said with a grin.

“Any chance of you giving private lessons?” Proof asked again.

“Watch it man,” Marshall said in a tone that was half serious half joking, but Proof knew not to push it.

“Very funny Marshall, ha ha,” Regina laughed as shook her head.

“Marshall! Hi!” Marshall cringed as he heard that voice. He turned around along with Regina, Swifty, Proof and Kon.

“I’m so glad I got to see you again!” it was Tina, from the club. Marshall wanted to die on the spot.

“Oh Tina, you’ve met the guys? Guys, you’ve met Tina, my cousin?” Regina asked. Marshall avoided making comments.

“You know him?” Tina asked pointing to Marshall.

“Yeah, he’s my boyfriend, you two met before?” Regina asked.

“Yeah, we danced at a club one night a while ago,” Tina replied, the color suddenly draining from her face. Realization dawned on Regina’s face.

“Ah, I see. Tina, sweetie, pack it up before I rip the burnt blond split ends out of your head,” Regina said with a smile. Tina turned and quickly made a getaway.

“Ouch,” Swifty said with a grin.

“Just fabulous. Just fucking fabulous.” Regina said through clenched teeth.

“Didn’t see that one coming,” Proof added.

“None of you even think about it. She’s got four kids by five different guys,” Regina replied.

“Four kids, five guys?” Kon asked.

“Think about it for a while.” Regina replied. Marshall was trying to disappear on the spot. This was not good.

She turned to him and looked him directly in the eyes.

“Bring it up again, and I’ll rip out your burnt blond hair by the roots, got it?” she asked. He swallowed hard and nodded.

“Good, now that we’ve got that figured out, anyone in the mood for dessert?”
