Chapter 3

Regina stood looking herself in the mirror, one hand clutched at the sheet she held at her chest. Right now, out in her living room sat Eminem. She’d slept with him last night. Slept, now that was the wrong word. She turned around and leaned against the sink and thought back to the night.

“Slept” was definitely the wrong word. They did not sleep, not until early that morning maybe. That had been the best sex she’d had in a long, long time. She smiled to herself as she thought about his hands traveling across her stomach, the way his hips ground into her, the shuddering hot breath on her neck. It had been one hot night so they had fucked without a sheet or blanket over them. It had been incredible.

But that’s all it had been, one incredible night, that’s all it could be. She wasn’t stupid, she knew what he wanted, just a bitch he could fuck for one night and never speak to again. All she had wanted, whether she had wanted to admit it or not, was a good looking guy and a one nightstand. They both got what they wanted.

She hoped he was gone when she opened the door.

But he wasn’t.

There he stood, directly in front of her, wearing a smug smile along with his oversized –shirt, dungarees and Timberlands.

“Come on, I got to get to the studio by twelve,” he said looking at his watch. He had his hat pulled low over his eyes, so she couldn’t get a good read on his look.

“You’re serious?” she asked raising an eyebrow.

“Yeah, lets go,” he said walking towards the door. Regina looked over at Ernelle with a “He’s kidding, right?” stare. Ernelle grinned at her and held her coffee cup up in a toast.

“If you gotta grab something, I’ll be down in the car, don’t be long!” he called opening the door and running down the hall to the stairs.

“Just enjoy it,” Ernelle said smiling.

“I hate you Ernelle,” Regina replied grabbing her bag. The book she was reading for Interpretive Lit was beside it on the table so she grabbed that as well.

“You’re going to do homework on a date?” Ernelle asked.

“It’s not a date. As soon as I get a chance, I’m taking off,” Regina replied dropping the book in her bag.

“You’ve got to be kidding me!” Ernelle shrieked.

“No, I’m not. A one-night stand is all Ernelle, that’s it. Nothing more, I wanted nothing more.”

“You’ve got to be crazy, don’t you see what you can get out of this?”

“Yes, I do. A whole lot of trouble, that’s what I can get out of it,” Regina replied going to the door.

“Don’t let him get away, I’m warning you,” Ernelle replied.

“Oh, yeah, sure, okay Ernelle, good bye,” Regina called waving and closing the door behind her. She stepped out into the hall and looked back at the door. She knew she’d be back in a minute, because she knew he would not be out there waiting for her.

She clopped quickly down the stairs and out the front door and almost walked into him.

“I was just about to come up and get you,” he said backing up.

“Well, I’m here. Is that your car?” she asked pointing lazily to the big box looking thing parked on the corner. She never had a way with naming cars. There were cars, trucks, vans and some kind of sport things. This thing fell into the latter category, but it resembled more of a tank.

“Yeah, two thousand six Escalade, just bought it last week,” he said going around to the other side and climbing in. She looked at the car from the back to the front and wrinkled her nose.

He honked the horn and rolled down the window.

“Come on, get in, I’ma gonna be late,” he said.

“Oh fine, if you insist,” Regina said with an attitude, grabbing the door handle and climbing in. The car roared to life and he pulled out into traffic.

“So how long you been living here?” he asked looking over at Regina, her head resting on her palm as she starred out the window.

“Real original opening line,” she snapped.

“All right, what is with the bitchy attitude?” he asked roughly. “You wouldn’t have to deal with this bitchy attitude if you would have just let me alone,” she replied.

“What is your big deal? I just invited you along with me, most bitches would be falling down on their knees to be with me,” he replied shaking his head.

“Then why don’t you find one already and leave me alone?” she asked, her head turning to look at him.

“Because I don’t want another one, just shut up and relax that mouth of yours for a while,” he replied.

“My mouth? Don’t you start at me with my mouth, who the hell are you any way to be telling me what to fucking do?” she spat.

“Cause you’re my whore, and my whores, do what I tell them to do,” he said in his characteristic tough skinned way.

“Aw hell no, you did not just call me your whore, you know what, I’ve just had about enough of this game,” she said as he pulled up at a red light. She popped opened the door and jumped down out of the cab and slammed the door shut.

“Just to let you know, I am not you’re whore, and would never, ever consider being your whore, and even if I was, if you even asked me to just pass you a tissue I’d tell you to go fuck yourself with it!” Regina screamed before taking off down the street towards her apartment again. She heard another door slam and turned to see him slouching up the sidewalk towards her. Her hands pounced onto her hips and stood there with attitude.

“You are some little pisher you know that,” he said as he approached.

“And you are a glutton for punishment,” she replied.

“Just get your ass, back in that car,” he said gesturing with his arm.

“I am not getting in that car so you go and show all your friends the bitch you boned, so just get out of here,” Regina shouted pointing back at his car.

“No way, you said you would spend the day with me, now you are going to own up to your promise,” he said as he tried to stare her down.

“If you want to try and stare me down, you’re gonna have to leave off that stupid hat of yours!” she said grabbing the hat and slinging it to the ground.

“Oh that’s it, you are really pushing it,” he said scooping up the hat and pulling it on backwards.

“Hey buddy, move your car!” someone yelled while honking their horn.

“Get bent,” Eminem muttered as he waved away the driver.

“You might want to speak up, I don’t think he heard you,” Regina snapped.

“Look, you come with me, I’ll buy you lunch, you’ll never hear from me again,” he said looking at her again.

“Never again? You swear?” she asked.

“Yeah, I swear,” he coughed.

“Fine, I’ll go, but you call me a whore one more time, I’ll kick the shit out of you,” she replied giving him a sideways glance as she took her first step. His hand reached out and grabbed hold of her arm.

“Yeah yeah, just get in,” he said pushing her slightly towards the car.

“Get off me.”
