*Always You & I*About 10 to 15 minutes later, I finally came out and walked down the hall and into the room where they were sitting. I had tears still my eyes. I looked into Nick’s eyes and couldn’t face him, my stomach churned and I turned and ran down the hallway crying.
“Brie!, Brie! Wait!”
She gulped and looked at him and said “Nick , now that this has happened…she has doubts.”
“Doubts..doubts about what?..That I love her? What?”
“Well… sorta but not really. You guys really need to talk. You know, this is going to be a rough time for her.”
“Yes, I know..I am not stupid.”
She ignored that comment and went on. “She is scared and feels lonely, ashamed and violated. She needs all the love and support that we can give her.”
Tears were streaming down his face…”Don’t you think that I know that? I love her with all my heart.”
“I know”
“I’d.. I’d do anything for her, anything. You know, this hurts me too.”
“It is going to be harder for her to trust people now.”
“So, now she doesn’t trust me? God!” He turned away for her and started to walk out.
“No, no…I didn’t say that.”
“Then what did you mean?”
“She will probably feel a threat from guys, and that may include you. But don’t get so hostile. She loves you a lot, you know.”
“Yeah, sure, but will she after this?”
“Well… I think she will. She loves you.. you are her life.”
“I couldn’t live without her.”
“You will work it out, I know.”
“I hope so.”
She told him that she had to leave and as she was leaving, she said “Go find her, push it out of her what she needs to tell you…get it off her chest. And tell her I am here for her and that I love her too.”
“Ok, thanks for coming… and for the pep talk” Nick said with an attempt to laugh.
“You welcome, Nick … see you later. Call me..”
“Ok, see ya.”
“Oh! Don’t take her back to her house.”
“I didn’t plan on it.”
“I don’t think that she can deal..at least not now.”
“Ok, yeah…but will she be alright?”
“I hope so, Nick, I hope so. Especially for her own sake”.
“Yeah, me too.”
“Ok, bye”
