Quality in both taste , service and price (very cheap) often scoops regional C.A.M.B.R.A Awards.(Even Kamera kev "Two sheds Gameson " held his 40 th there).
Range of Real English ,Belgium and other Continental Ales.
Worth a visit ...As hosted Mark Thomas (cockney comedian Ex Bretton hall (see alan bates)..not the one that attended Kettlethorpe high with ..see craig wells) benefit gigs (He often drops in if playing in the area)!

The Zeus and down town ( over the road)

The Zeus was formerly the Dolphin and Wakefield Pride.
Downtown was the Beehive and another name ..
Known as a Gay bars (not compulasary for addmission.) not the cheapest of bars .Very welcoming and friendly. (Warning don't go if you are homophobic ..or shocked at gay people kissing !)
Loud music most nights and extended drinking hours on weekends

Six Chimney's

Weatherspoons pub .Cheap real ale .Food not so cheap. They do sell Kolez lager though.

Hairwood arms

Run by Manager Andy Parkinson and Co-Manger Peter.Previously ran the Talbot & Falcon Northgate Wakefield for 13 yeards ,turning it into the finest real ale pub in wakefield ,since Bob Hunter (but without the head-up-the arse customer service.)(C.A.M.B.R.A & Dave are you listening listen raved about it)
Friendly service (carol is a laugh)and hopes to extend range of real ales.

Fernandos

Run by Dave and Moreen.Extending thier Homebrew .(very well know nationwide)shop.
Sell an extensive range of thier own, english and continental ales.Employing Family,Friends and Kamera Kev.Friendly and welcoming.

Tuck 'n'shive

Not what it used to be (i don't mean the dark and distance past as the Brunswick and penny lane nightclub either).When it first opened 1993 as the tut'n'shive the ale was excellent rivalling the "beer engine westgate wakefield(then excellent too).did have a popular bowling alley .whcih was removed due to it always breaking down.(not so popular).Good size pub reasonable ale at reasonable prices.Friendly as a Market style pub.
