Movie Reviews

These are the movies we saw summer 1998 and previously.

Key
WOO! Totally cool!
Really Good
Okay
Blah, wasn't good
CRAP!

Ever After
Rated PG-13
I saw it on: August 5, 1998
Stars: Drew Barrymore

Totally cool. It was good and not really like Cinderella (in a good way). I liked it a lot. The costumes were very beautiful (some, not all) and Drew Barrymore was good in it. And I agree with Lindsey, why was it rated PG-13? That was dumb.

That movie looks gay. (He didn't see it.)

Disturbing Behavior
Rated R
I saw it on: July 29, 1998
Good song: Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger and some other cool song
Stars: Katie Holmes and James Marsden

It was a great movie! Although it wasn't scary like it was suposed to be. But it was somewhat. There was suspense, action, lust, and a great plot. See it soon!

Mafia!
Rated PG-13
We saw it on: July 25, 1998
Good song: Hot Stuff (that discoey song)
Stars: Jay Mohr, 'n' blah, 'n' blah, 'n' blah

That movie was kinda funny, but they just cramed WAY too much stuff in it. I mean everything was suposed to be funny. They'd probably try and make opening a door funny. It did have some really funny parts though.

That movie ruled.

Armageddon
Rated PG-13
We saw it on: July 19, 1998 (Lindsey's birthday!)
Stars: Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Ben Affleck, Mr. T (not really, j/k as
Yes! Finally another great movie. This was supposed to be sad like Titanic, but to me it wasn't. It rocked! The plot was centered around a huge astroid hitting the Earth, with a love between Grace (Liv Tyler) and AJ (Ben Affleck) on the side. Will Earth survive?

That movie was awesome, but the love story blows.

6 Days, 7 Nights
Rated PG-13
I saw it on: July 15, 1998 (With my boyfriend for our 2 month aniversary!)
Stars: Harrison Ford, Anne Heche, and David Schwimmer

This was labeled "a great date movie." That was the only reason we saw it. But otherwise it was nothing spectacular, it was pretty much an average movie. Basically it was a predictable love triangle between the stars listed above.

City of Angels
Rated PG-13
Good Song: Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
I saw it on: July 12, 1998
Stars: Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage

This movie wasn't great, nor was it terrible. It was the love story between a human and an angel. It was ok and a sweet story. But the ending was predictable and cheesy.

Hope Floats
Rated PG-13
We saw it on: July 3, 1998
Stars: Sandra Bullock

Stupid. Thats how I describe this movie. This sappy, chick flick was something not my taste at all. Maybe it was just me but I didn't like it.

That movie was f***** gay.

Can't Hardly Wait
Rated PG-13
Good Song: Graduate by Third Eye Blind and Can't Get Enough of you Baby by Smash Mouth
We saw it on: June 29, 1998
Stars: Jennifer Love Hewitt

This movie was about a graduation party that changed this class of 1998's lives. The characters were very funny especially Kenny. And there was yet another love story in it. Such a TriPPy movie!

Kenny was the pimp, awesome guy who drives a cool car. Do you have to pull Jake's tail like a vacuum when you want him to eat something?

The X Files
Rated PG-13
Good Song: Walking after You by Foo Fighters and X Files Theme
We saw it on: June 23, 1998
Stars: David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson

WOO! Terrific, awesome, scary, intriguing, and a cool movie. I loved this movie, its my favorite. It was the classic X-Files episode, only it was a movie. There was plenty of action and suspense. See it as soon as you can!

"I didn't get it." (in a blonde voice)

Dirty Work
Rated PG-13
Good Song: Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind
We saw it on: June 19, 1998
Stars: Norm McDonald

This movie was hilarious! It was based on 2 guys running a revenge for hire business. Again there was a cheesy love story on the side. A funny movie, I totally reccomend it.

Cool.

The Truman Show
Rated PG
We saw it on: June 11, 1998
Stars: Jim Carrey

This movie brought up a weird concept, what if you were watched your entire life? This was a cool plot. Not the usual Jim Carrey movie, but it was good.

Let's see I gotta think of a dumb answer here. . .

Bullworth
Rated R
We saw it on: May 29, 1998

and a 1/2
I was very distracted during this movie so I can't give my true opinion. It didn't seem too great. There was humor to it, but I hated the ending.

It was funny, but the ending blows.

Deep Impact
Rated PG-13
I saw it on: May 16, 1998
Stars: Elijah Wood and Tea Leoni

and a 1/2
Now this was crap. I didn't like it. Elijah Wood (aka flipper) doesn't know how to act, Tea Leoni can't either. The story was ok, but it just didn't make a splash.

Mr. Nice Guy
Rated PG-13
We saw it on: March 22, 1998
Stars: Jackie Chan

I was dragged to this cheesy show. It was kind of funny and the Jackie-Chan-Style action was ok. I have to admit, it was a little more than I thought it would be. Overall it was cheesy, but no terrible.

Jake loves you.

Good Will Hunting
Rated R
Good Song: The background music that all sounded the same, but was good and went along well with the movie, by Elliot Smith
I saw it on: March 20, 1998
Stars: Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver, and Robin Williams

A truly touching movie. The acting was excellent. I liked this movie a lot. Although they didn't have to swear so much. (Boy did they like to use the F word!)

Krippendorf's Tribe
Rated PG-13
We saw it on: March 15, 1998
Stars: Richard Dreyfus and Jenna Elfman

This turned out to be better than I thought it would be. I liked it despite the two tardy stars.

It was okay.

The Wedding Singer
Rated PG-13
Good Song: The one Adam Sandler sings to that girl
We saw it on: February 22, 1998
Stars: Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler

I really enjoyed this show. It was hilarious! Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore were good in it. One of its few flaws was all that 80's mu-zak (music).

Uhhhhhhhhhh.......... Uhhhhhhh....... Doh!!!!

Blues Brothers 2000
Rated PG-13
Good Song: Looking for a Fox sung by John Goodman and Dan Ackroyd, New Orleans, Funky Nassau with Erykah Badu
We saw it on: February 7, 1998
Stars: Dan Ackroyd and John Goodman

Good movie! It was as funny and wacky as the original. One of the best things in the movie was the zany way they parked.

This movie was like totally awesomely excellently cool.

Spice World
Rated PG
Good Song: They were all Spice Girls!! NONE!!
We saw it on: January 31, 1998
Stars: The Spice Girls

1/2 of a
What a lousy movie! Worse than Half Baked. The only people who might enjoy this movie are preteen girls. There were plenty of sad attempts at jokes, but the only thing funny was the cheesy bridge scene. Don't spend the money to see it. Its totally not worth it!

Minus
That movie was gay.

Half Baked
Rated R
I saw it on: January 23, 1998
Stars: Jim Brewer

Yuck! This movie was only based on drugs and getting high. There was a screwed up love thing in it too. Despite a few semu-funny jokes, the movie was only drug humor and totally not my kind of movie.

Tomorrow Never Dies
Rated PG-13
I saw it on: January 17, 1998 and I don't know when Kevin saw it
Stars: Pierce Brosnan

It was pretty much a typical Bond flick with action, lies, and lust. None the less I found it to be a good movie.

That movie ruled.

Titanic
Rated PG-13
Good Song: My Heart Will Go on (Well, it was a hit song, but we are sure sick of it!!)
We saw it on: January 10, 1998 and December 19, 1997 (the day it came out)
Stars: Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio

Although the major hype and hysteria, Titanic actually was a good movie. Even I cried at the end. The movie was somewhat cheesy, and frankly I don't like Celine Dio's My Heart Will Go On. (a plate! -SNL, Goth Talk)

~Big Belch.~ (He didn't say, just let out a burp. No stars.)
Armageddon was better.

Scream 2
Rated R
I saw it on: December 12, 1997 (opening day) and December 30, 1997
Stars: Neve Cambell, Jerry O'Connel, Jamie Kennedy, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Liev Schriber.

Great sequal to an awesome movie! I thought it was as good as the first. The death scenes were as good as the first. This movie was quite scary the first time I saw it, and to me it still is. I loved it!

Excess Baggage
Rated PG-13
I saw it on: September 14, 1998
Stars: Benicio Del Toro and Alicia Silverstone

This movie was, well, just a movie. It wasn't goofy. The acting was poor, and it was a waste of money.
