Chicago, the land of Lincoln, USA's 3rd city. Chicago is known for a few things such as the Sears Tower, Pizza, and parades. Chicago has a population of 2.9 million within it's city limits, metro population of 9.2 million, and with about 1,400 high rise buildings.
Here is a pic of the Sears Tower up close. The lobby contains the moving sculpture "The Universe" by Alexander Calder. The Sears Tower was the tallest building in the world from 1974 to 1996, surpassed by the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The obervatory elevators are amoung the world's fastest at 1600 feet per minte. The building holds 3 out of 4 world's tallest titles: 1.Tallest building including atenna. 2.Highest roof. 3.Highest occupied floor.
The height of the building is often listed as 1,454 ft. This is the result of measuring from Franklin St., which is 4 feet lower than the main entrance on Wacker Drive.
The height with the atennas is 527 meters (1,729 ft.).
