Site History In case you didn’t know The Sim Files was not always the grandeur it is now. My obsession with the Sims began with my friend showing me the game. Of course like most of you the second I saw it I became hooked. I bought the game the very next day and began to play it constantly over the next few weeks. I enjoyed the downloads from the official site and quickly stumbled into the fan sites in which I found my favorite site, Project Sims. This site was ideal because it offered beginner players, like myself at the time, tips on how to be successful. After school let out for the summer my friend(yeah if you haven’t already noticed he played a big role in this site) introduced me to the world of websites. At first I was hesitant to open a page but after a little thought I decided to create a sims site. In late June I began work on the first version of J.T.’s Sims using AOL Hometown. It was mainly a information site and I didn’t offer any downloads and very little news. In the beginning of August my friend (the same one) transferred his site to Homestead. I was delighted with the new features available on the Homestead site and opened a second version of J.T.’s Sims on August 13, 2000 (yes I do remember the exact date). My new site was not exactly a booming success. I only achieved about 5,400 hits in the 5 months the site was online. This site was my first foray into the world of news sites. News became the basis of my site and I rarely ever wrote new articles, something I missed doing, this site was also the beginning of my download creations. Even though I only had a dozen or so downloads I was quite proud of my little site. But times change and I found myself looking for new challenges. This brought me to the world of HTML. After a few late nights of studying the intricacies of HTML I finally began construction of The Sim Files (my friend of course helped a great deal). After two solid days of work I finally completed The Sim Files. This brings us to the present and I am greatly interested in seeing what the future will bring for me and my site and I hope that you all will enjoy my creation. |
