Home Furnishings
Hey, over the next couple of months (or until I run out of ideas) I will be bringing you articles on Sims strategy. I also hope to have a Q&A segment from time to time, so if you have a question regarding the game, email it to me at aggieland125@hotmail.com and I will do my best to answer it. Now let's get down to business, for the subject of my first article I'm going to write a little on how to furnish your Sims homes. When starting a new family you begin with twenty thousand dollars to buy a house and furniture. I like to start with the pre-designed house on lot 6, so for arguments sake let's buy that one, so now you have about 10,000 dollars to buy furniture. Now let's begin in the kitchen, first off you will need to buy a couple of pieces of the cheapest counter top, since only the most expensive one adds room score, I recommend you buy three, next buy a sink, the single chambered one will serve the purpose, I also suggest you buy a food processor, a refrigerator, and a stove (if you plan on getting your sims cooking skills up to about two, if not then buy a microwave) these items will aid in increasing your sims hunger need, now you'll need a table, the $95 dollar one should do just fine along with the table you should also purchase two or three of the cheap red chairs, so you've finished your kitchen and at this point you should have about 6,500 dollars still in the bank. So let's go over the bathroom, I like to use a bathtub as apposed to the shower, I figure you might as well get comfort and hygiene point as opposed to just hygiene just of course this is up to you, while the kitchen sink provides a place for you to wash your hands I would suggest buying a sink for the bathroom so your sims won't have to walk all the way to the kitchen and of course the most important item for any sims bathroom, the television! just kidding of course you know they need a toilet and unless your willing to shell out 1,300 bucks for the futuristic throne you better stick to the standard 400 dollar toilet, you can also add the white mirror to boost charisma if you are so inclined. Now you have about 5,000 or so left for the bedroom, with this money you may want to buy a computer, chair and desk in order to find a job and then sell it all back. So after you have sold all that back you need to buy probably the most important item in the entire house, the bed, since it controls how much time your sims will have to do other tasks such as socializing, I strongly suggest that you buy the 3,000 dollar mission bed. The bad thing about the house on lot 6 is that it only has three rooms so you have to combine the living room with either the bedroom or the kitchen, since the kitchen doesn't seem like a good place for a couch and tv (although I have been known to put it there on occasion) I would advise you to put the 500 tv and a couch or love seat (I like the dark blue love seat personally in the bedroom, but make sure you turn it off before you send your sims to bed, now add the second most expensive bookcase and a night stand with an alarm clock if you don't plan on getting your sims up yourself. Finally you need to add a phone in the kitchen and a smoke over the stove and I suggest placing wall portions on the corner of the lot and place burglar alarms on them. Feel free to add lighting with the money left over but be sure to save some money for breakfast before work the next day. Well that's it for today, keep those sims happy and try and catch my next article. See ya later.
