The Price We Pay Story content warnings: This was inspired by the Waking up Married in Vegas responses, but it's not a true response in that it doesn't begin in Vegas as the challenge dictates. Also, Buffy marries Lex when she's 17 and he's 22. Married. That means they will have made love. The vast majority of the story will take place, and any sexual situations described in detail, will appear later in the story when they are of age; nevertheless, this may bother some people. If you are one of those people, read no further. Also, this is a love story with some adventure / intrigue. Not the other way around. And it begins rather intensely. Please bear with me, keeping in mind that as of the prologue, Lex and Buffy have been married for 3 years, but as a result of her slaying, they've kept apart for most of that time. Canon alterations: In order to make this work, I've mucked with the timeline. Also, because she was married between seasons 2 and 3, she didn't reunite with Angel in season 3, nor did she get together with anyone else, including Spike. She does love Angel and Spike, just as she does Dawn, Giles, Willow, Xander. Lex flirts, but also does not become seriously involved with anyone else. Desiree is the only exception.
