I was thinking Buck, only because they both have that opposite-sex chasing tendency. I'm also thinking that if I do it in the old west, they've been there a while and they're Pinkertons. But I wouldn't reveal that until much later. I see a rainstorm at the beginning. Three wealthy, young 'widows' on a stage. Or the army's payroll has been frequently robbed. Or cattle thieves. I was thinking of dealing with the Buffy canon of not killing humans in this way...
