The baby is ready for life outside the womb. The placenta will detach from the side of the uterus and the umbilical cord will no longer work. All the child's blood will now travel through the lungs because of the changes caused by the child's natural breathing outside of the womb. Just minutes before this picture was taken this baby could have still been leaglly killed by abortion even if just a portion of his body was still inside the mothers womb, thanks to the 2000 Supreme Court decision Stenberg v. Carhart which declared a law banning partial-birth abortion unconstitutional under Roe v Wade.
