Nathaniel Newlin 1690-1731

    Nathaniel was born March 19, 1690 in Concord, now Delaware County, Pennsylvania, the son of Nathaniel and Mary Mendenhall Newlin, and entered into a family life of affluence and deep religious coviction. 

    His intention to marry Jane Woodward, the daughter of Richard and Jane Woodward was announced in the Concord MM in 1710/11, and took place at the Meeting at Middletown,  1st 2nd MO, 1711.  Little is recorded about the life of these 2, and they seemed to disappear into the shadow of Nathaniel Jr's father, who was so active in  local church life  and political circles.  Nathaniel Jr and Jane had the following children;

        Nathaniel died in Concord, in 1731, at only 42, outliving his own father by only 3 years....his father's estate had not even  been been settled by the time of his own death.

provides for wife Jane. to son Nathaniel my plantation where I dwell with 275 acres of land at the west end when 21 also stock. to son Joseph 400 acres of land being part of a tract in..township, next to land of Henry Hayes also 20 lb and the gun that was his grandfathers, when 21. to son Nicholas 400 acres being part of the 785 acres on Doe Run also 20 lb at 21.. To daughters, viz. Rachel, Elizabeth, Jane, Mary and Martha 50 lb. each at 18.

To my 3 sons Joseph, Nicholas and Nathan £5 each the day of their 
marriage. To daughter Rachel Walter £16. To daughter Elizabeth £5, a 
bed etc. at her marriage. To daughter Jane £16 at marriage. To daughter 
Mary £16 at marriage. To daughter Martha £16 at marriage. All above 
legacies being conditioned upon their marriage with consent of the 
Monthly meeting to which they belong. To 3 grandchildren 40 shillings 
each to be paid them at 18 and 21. Executors: brothers in law Ellis 
Lewis and John Newlin. Witnesses: Ralph Eavenson, Grace Eavenson.
