Banjo Neck
Selman Special Banjo is highest quality in materials and workmanship.
It features a gold plated Blaylock tone ring. These tone rings
are featured in the Osborne Chief banjos. JD Crowe also has a banjo
with the Blaylock tone ring. I spoke to JD about Blaylock tone ring
and JD quoted it being the best tone that you can buy today besides
the pre-war flathead tone rings. JD said what he really likes about the tone ring
is that it sustains its volume all the way up the neck.
The Selman Special has a curly maple neck and resonator. Rosewood
fretboard and has hand cut green abalone mother of pearl. The edge of
the fretboard is inlaid with green abalone pearl and below the binding
is green abalone pearl. The resonator is a highly figured curly maple
and is inlayed with green abalone pearl on the back side of the resonator and on the sides
of the resonator below the white and black binding. The banjo has the
V-2 band Waverly tuning keys. The armrest, tailpiece and tension hoop
is heavily engraved and gold plated. This is an excellent playing and
sounding banjo and the pictures does not do this banjo justice.
The price for the Selman Special banjo is $6,000.00.
There is a 6 month waiting period on this banjo with 50% down and the
final payment when the banjo is complete.
