Blue Blazers were 8-2 when Cory started in 2002

Cory Zinn was very vitale to the success of the Blue Blazers in the 2002 campaign. His stepping into the role of point guard lead the Blue Blazers to 6 wins in the regular season and 2 wins in the tournament. Cory was an excellent defender and was very strong on rebounding and blocking shots. He had many steals as well.

"He was a major contribution to our success," said head coach Eric Post, "he is one of the main reasons we won that first tournament series against the Dooks."

Cory's interesting entrance into the Blue Blazers is a story of its own. In the fourth game of the Christmas Tournament, with 2 players out, Cory put on the Blazers uniform and opened eye brows with his defensive play. Also, his vomitting left it a game to remember for him and his teammates. Though a loss came, Cory was impressive in his debut.

Another turning point in the freshman's career came 7 games into the regular season, with the Blazers slumping, "Little" Zinn got the go ahead to start. The Blazers rallied around the freshman point guard to a victory in overtime 74-71. Cory had gained respect from his fellow teammates.

The Blazers would go on a winning 5 of their next 6 games, capping off a 8-4 season and a fourth place finish.

Cory was a very very valuable member to the 2002 Blue Blazers and all hope he will lead the Blue Blazers to the championship next year.
