Blue Blazers Press

For the second consecutive year the Blue Blazers are in the championship game. But this year they come from the loser’s bracket.

Following a heartbreaking 78-77 loss to the Clarksburg Ballas which saw the Blue Blazers blow a 13 point fourth quarter lead. Tonight there was no melt down. In a game which saw the winner advance to the championship, the boys in blue and white took down the Bridgeport Beavers 79-64 in a strong performance. It was the fifth time the Blue Blazers defeated Philip Fetty’s Beavers this season and the eighth time in the past two years.

Brandon McCollum lead the Blazers in scoring again with 22 points including a pair of threes. Adam Hill and T.J. Flint both had 17 while David Pumphrey pitched in 10. Ben DuFour had 8 and Adonnis Beam pitched in 6 while playing another stellar game at point guard. Justin Post shot 0 for 1 from the floor and Tyson White was not present in the victory.

“It feels good to get back into the championship game,” a happy Eric Post said afterwards. “Sure we made it last year but that was a totally different group of kids. There aren’t any players from that team on this team so we’re definitely still hungry.”

When asked about what he thought his chances were, Coach Post said calmly, “I’m a big believer in fate...I’ve got a good feeling about this.”

Notes: The Blue Blazers would have to beat the Clarksburg Ballas twice to win the title....this will mark Eric Post’s 100th game on the bench as the Blue Blazer head coach....tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 on Tuesday February 28th and if the Blue Blazers would win the final game would be Wednesday March 1 at 8:00
