Blue Blazers -Better Late than Never
Shawn Williams scores 11 in Blazer win

January 18, 2003

Being 30 minutes late for a game and not warming up will explain the low scoring in the Blue Blazer 31-21 over the Bridgeport based Crazy Squirrels. Due to a communication break down, a game that was believed to be at 1:00, really started at 10:00, causing the Blazers to be extremely late and causing the Harrison County Parks and Rec brass to cut the quarters to 5 minutes per.

After finally having just enough players to play, 6, the first quarter began and ended 5 minutes later with the game tied at 5 a piece. By half time the score was 13-7 in favor of the Crazy Squirrels. Why the low scoring? Good defense on the part of the Blue Blazers, poor shooting for the Squirrels, and the Blazers not being able to loosen up prior to the game. The second half would be another story.

Justin Glass and Shawn Williams picked up their offense in the second have to lead the Blazers into victory. Justin Glass started a run by hitting back to back 3 pointers and then Shawn Williams woke up to drop 11, three straight 3 pointers and a lay up during a 24-8 Blue Blazer run in the second half.

Jeremy Glass also pitched in 8 points, Travis Messenger hit two jumpers to give him 4, Tyler Maxwell made 2 free throws to end his day with 2 and Sam Tricase was held scoreless, shooting only once.
