The Targum Jonathan states that the Nephilim were given this name because they were descended from fallen angels.[11] The New American Bible commentary draws a parallel to the Epistle of Jude and the statements set forth in Genesis, suggesting that the Epistle refers implicitly to the paternity of Nephilim as heavenly beings who came to earth and had sexual intercourse with women.[12] The footnotes of the Jerusalem Bible suggest that the Biblical author intended the Nephilim to be an "anecdote of a superhuman race".[13] Genesis 6:4 implies that the Nephilim have inhabited the earth in at least two different time periods—in antediluvian times "and afterward." If the Nephilim were supernatural beings themselves, or at least the progeny of supernatural beings, it is possible that the "giants of Canaan" in Book of Numbers13:33 were the direct descendants of the antediluvian Nephilim, or were fathered by the same supernatural parents. In Aramaic culture, the term Nephila specifically referred to the constellation of Orion, and thus Nephilim to Orion's semi-divine descendants (cf.Anakim from Anak);[14] the implication being that this also is the origin of the Biblical Nephilim. Some Christian commentators have argued against this view[15], citing Jesus' statement that angels do not marry.[16] Others believe that Jesus was only referring to angels in heaven.[17]
In other texts
The story of the Nephilim is chronicled more fully in the Book of Enoch (part of Ethiopian biblical canon). Enoch, as well as Jubilees, connects the origin of the Nephilim with the fallen angels, and in particular with the Grigori (
watchers). Samyaza, an angel of high rank, is described as leading a rebel sect of angels in a descent to earth to have sexual intercourse with human females:And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will not indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.' Then sware they all together and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it...—[26]
According to these texts, the fallen angels who begat the Nephilim were cast into Tartarus/Gehenna, a place of 'total darkness'. However, Jubilees also states that God granted ten percent of the disembodied spirits of the Nephilim to remain after the flood, as demons, to try to lead the human race astray (through idolatry, the occult, etc.) until the final Judgment.
In addition to
Enoch, the Book of Jubilees (7:21–25) also states that ridding the Earth of these Nephilim was one of God's purposes for flooding the Earth in Noah's time. The Biblical reference to Noah being "perfect in his generations" may have referred to his having a clean, Nephilim-free bloodline, although it may be inferred that there was more diversity among his three daughters-in law.[citation needed]These works describe the Nephilim as being evil giants.
There are also allusions to these descendants in the Catholic deuterocanonical books of
Judith, Sirach, Baruch, and Wisdom of Solomon and in the non-Catholic 3 Maccabees.[citation needed]Some individuals and groups, including the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, St. Augustine, John Calvin, and the Latter-day Saints, take the view of Genesis 6:2 that the "Angels" who fathered the Nephilim referred to certain human males from the lineage of Seth, who were called
sons of Godprobably in reference to their being formerly in a covenantal relationship with Yahweh (cf. Deuteronomy 14:1; 32:5); according to these sources, these men had begun to pursue bodily interests, and so took wives of the daughters of men, e.g., those who were descended from Cain or from any people who did not worship God. Not only is this unequivocally stated in Ethiopian Orthodox versions of I Enoch and Jubilees, but this is also the view presented in a few extra-Biblical, yet ancient works, particularly the Conflict of Adam and Eve with Satan. In these sources, these offspring of Seth were said to have disobeyed God, by breeding with the Cainites and producing wicked children "who were all unlike", thus angering God into bringing about the Deluge.Nowhere is the Ethiopian view presented more explicitly than in the
Conflict of Adam Book 3, chap. 4[27]:Certain wise men of old wrote concerning them, and say in their [sacred] books, that angels came down from heaven, and mingled with the daughters of Cain, who bare unto them these giants. But these [wise men] err in what they say. God forbid such a thing, that angels who are spirits, should be found committing sin with human beings. Never, that cannot be. And if such a thing were of the nature of angels, or Satans, that fell, they would not leave one woman on earth, undefiled... But many men say, that angels came down from heaven, and joined themselves to women, and had children by them. This cannot be true. But they were children of Seth, who were of the children of Adam, that dwelt on the mountain, high up, while they preserved their virginity, their innocence and their glory like angels; and were then called 'angels of God.' But when they transgressed and mingled with the children of Cain, and begat children, ill-informed men said, that angels had come down from heaven, and mingled with the daughters of men, who bare them giants.
In ancient Aram (from which we get the Aramaic language), the constellation Orion was known as Nephila, and Orion's descendants were known as Nephilim.

The idea that the spirits of dead giants (off
spring of demons mating with earth women) inhabit the underworld (place beyond
the veil) is supported here in this passages:

The book of Jasher, which is mentioned in the Bible in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel
1.18 says, "After the fallen angels went into the daughters of men, [then] the
sons of men taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in
order to provoke the Lord" (4:18). The Book of Enoch says that fallen angels not
only merged their DNA with women,
but that "they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish"
(7:5; 6)
Giants
(1.) Hebrew Nephilim, meaning "violent" or "causing to fall" (Gen. 6:4). These
were the violent tyrants of those days, those who fell upon others. The word may
also be derived from a root signifying "wonder," and hence "monsters" or
"prodigies." In Num. 13:33 this name is given to a Canaanitish tribe, a race of
large stature, "the sons of Anak." The Revised Version, in these passages,
simply transliterates the original, and reads "Nephilim."
(2.) Hebrew rephaim, a race of giants (Deut. 3:11) who lived on the east of
Jordan, from whom Og was descended. They were probably the original inhabitants
of the land before the immigration of the Canaanites. They were conquered by
Chedorlaomer (Gen. 14:5), and their territories were promised as a possession to
Abraham (15:20). The Anakim, Zuzim, and Emim were branches of this stock.
In Job 26:5 (R.V., "they that are deceased;" marg., "the shades," the "Rephaim")
and Isa. 14:9 this Hebrew word is rendered (A.V.) "dead." It means here "the
shades," the departed spirits in Sheol. In Sam. 21:16, 18, 20, 33, "the giant"
is (A.V.) the rendering of the singular form ha raphah, which may possibly be
the name of the father of the four giants referred to here, or of the founder of
the Rephaim. The Vulgate here reads "Arapha," whence Milton (in Samson Agonistes)
has borrowed the name "Harapha." (See also 1 Chron. 20:5, 6, 8; Deut. 2:11, 20;
3:13; Josh. 15:8, etc., where the word is similarly rendered "giant.") It is
rendered "dead" in (A.V.) Ps. 88:10; Prov. 2:18; 9:18; 21:16: in all these
places the Revised Version marg. has "the shades." (See also Isa. 26:14.)
(3.) Hebrew 'Anakim (Deut. 2:10, 11, 21; Josh. 11:21, 22; 14:12, 15; called
"sons of Anak," Num. 13:33; "children of Anak," 13:22; Josh. 15:14), a nomad
race of giants descended from Arba (Josh. 14:15), the father of Anak, that dwelt
in the south of Palestine near Hebron (Gen. 23:2; Josh. 15:13). They were a
Cushite tribe of the same race as the Philistines and the Egyptian shepherd
kings. David on several occasions encountered them (2 Sam. 21:15-22). From this
race sprung Goliath (1 Sam. 17:4).
(4.) Hebrew 'emin, a warlike tribe of the ancient Canaanites. They were "great,
and many, and tall, as the Anakims" (Gen. 14:5; Deut. 2:10, 11).
(5.) Hebrew Zamzummim (q.v.), Deut. 2:20 so called by the Amorites.
(6.) Heb. gibbor (Job 16:14), a mighty one, i.e., a champion or hero. In its
plural form (gibborim) it is rendered "mighty men" (2 Sam. 23:8-39; 1 Kings 1:8;
1 Chr. 11:9-47; 29:24.) The band of six hundred whom David gathered around him
when he was a fugitive were so designated. They were divided into three
divisions of two hundred each, and thirty divisions of twenty each. The captains
of the thirty divisions were called "the thirty," the captains of the two
hundred "the three," and the captain over the whole was called "chief among the
captains" (2 Sam. 23:8). The sons born of the marriages mentioned in Gen. 6:4
are also called by this Hebrew name.
Does the Bible Mention
UFO's?
Yes, but not in the way most people think. Some people will point to Ezekiel's
vision (Ezekiel 1:4- 28) as an example of an Old Testament UFO sighting. But the
Being in the vision identified Himself as "the YHWH" (Ezekiel 2: 4). But there

Roswell Region"
The intelligence office of the 509th Bombardment group at Roswell Army Air Field
announced at noon today, that the field has come into possession of a flying
saucer.
First Report... before they release another story to cover up the truth.
According to information released by the department, over authority of Maj. J.
A. Marcel, intelligence officer, the disk was recovered on a ranch in the
Roswell vicinity, after an unidentified rancher had notified Sheriff Geo.
Wilcox, here, that he had found the instrument on his premises.
Major Marcel and a detail from his department went to the ranch and recovered
the disk, it was stated.
After the intelligence officer here had inspected the instrument it was flown to
higher headquarters.
The intelligence office stated that no details of the saucer's construction or
its appearance had been revealed.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Wilmot apparently
were the only persons in Roswell who seen what they thought was a flying disk.
They were sitting on their porch at 105 South Penn. last Wednesday night at
about ten o'clock when a large glowing object zoomed out of the sky from the
southeast, going in a northwesterly direction at a high rate of speed.
Wilmot called Mrs. Wilmot's attention to it and both ran down into the yard to
watch. It was in sight less then a minute, perhaps 40 or 50 seconds, Wilmot
estimated.
Wilmot said that it appeared to him to be about 1,500 feet high and going fast.
He estimated between 400 and 500 miles per hour.
In appearance it looked oval in shape like two inverted saucers, faced mouth to
mouth, or like two old type washbowls placed, together in the same fashion. The
entire body glowed as though light were showing through from inside, though not
like it would inside, though not like it would be if a light were merely
underneath.
From where he stood Wilmot said that the object looked to be about 5 feet in
size, and making allowance for the distance it was from town he figured that it
must have been 15 to 20 feet in diameter, though this was just a guess.
Wilmot said that he heard no sound but that Mrs. Wilmot said she heard a
swishing sound for a very short time.
The object came into view from the southeast and disappeared over the treetops
in the general vicinity of six mile hill.
Wilmot, who is one of the most respected and reliable citizens in town, kept the
story to himself hoping that someone else would come out and tell about having
seen one, but finally today decided that he would go ahead and tell about it.
The announcement that the RAAF was in possession of one came only a few minutes
after he decided to release the details of what he had seen.
Edgar Dean Mitchell, D.Sc. (born September 17, 1930) is an American pilot, engineer, and astronaut.
Views on UFOs
Mitchell has publicly expressed his opinions that he is "90 percent sure that many of the thousands of unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, recorded since the 1940s, belong to visitors from other planets"[4] and that UFOs have been the "subject of disinformation in order to deflect attention and to create confusion so the truth doesn't come out".[5] Dateline NBC conducted an interview with Mitchell on April 19, 1996, during which he discussed meeting with officials from three countries who claimed to have had personal encounters with extraterrestrials. He offered his opinion that the evidence for such "alien" contact was "very strong" and "classified" by governments, who were covering up visitations and the existence of alien beings' bodies in places such as Roswell, New Mexico. He further claimed that UFOs had provided "sonic engineering secrets" that were helpful to the U.S. government. Mitchell's book, The Way of the Explorer," discusses his journey into mysticism and space.[6]
In 2004 he told the St. Petersburg Times that a "cabal of insiders" in the U.S. government were studying recovered alien bodies, and that this group had stopped briefing U.S. presidents after John F. Kennedy.[7] He said, "We all know that UFOs are real; now the question is, where they come from."
