When retrofiting front disc brakes on my 1967 GMC G-10 Vqn, the stabilizer bar axle mounts need to be repositioned so the calipers will the stabilizer brackets on turns. Depending on the caliper mounting brackets, calipers and sway bar mounts, there are a number of methods which have been used to accomplish the proper clearances. I chose to fabricate bracket mount plates that attach at the stock sway bar position. The stock sway bar axle mount then bolts to the "new" locator position. The last row is my solution. I chose this solution because I wanted to keep the stabilizer pin as near as possible to the GM designed angles & position. |
