Released in 1992 by Laser Soft, Valis SD (SD meaning Super Deformed) is an action/platform game which revolves around the stories of the Valis series of games for the PC Engine and Mega Drive. You play as the character Yuko and must fight off evil monsters. Everything in this game is in SD form. Cool music, sort of bland, pastel graphics, and tight gameplay. Other characters include Varia, Valna, and Reiko. As you progress through the game, you'll accquire different swords which have different effects when used. Also, Yuko's outfits will change throughout the game. I personally find this game to be very tough when going through it the first time. Learn the patterns of different end bosses and it shouldn't be too difficult. Otherwise a VERY FUN GAME! This title was also released in the US by Renovation for the Sega Genesis but the name was changed to "SYD Of Valis". Don't ask as to why the name change but the box art was good despite some of the other box art Renovation was putting out.
