Chapter Fourteen
I looked at the sleeping angel next to me. I finally felt fully content. It was a wonderful feeling. I ran my hand through his maroonish-brown hair. His beautiful brown eyes fluttered open.
"Hey beautiful," he said as he leaned in for a kiss.
I kissed him, letting my lips linger there for a while. "Hey." I looked over his shoulder and looked at the clock. "Shit." It was 5:03.
"What?"
"I forgot to pick up Gabby from her daycare." I jumped out of the bed and gathered my clothes off of the floor.
"What're we gonna tell Trey?" he asked.
I stopped in my tracks. "The truth." I continued to put my clothes on. I headed for the kitchen and began to search for my keys. AJ followed me in a couple seconds later dangling my keys. "Looking for these?"
"Where'd you find them?" I asked as I took them from him.
"They were on your nightstand."
"Are you gonna come to the hospital with me?"
"Hospital? What for?"
"To talk to Trey..."
"Of course." He wrapped his arms around me. "I love you."
"I love you too."

By the time we had picked up Gabby, it was 6:05 when we got to the hospital.
"Gabby, you stay with your Daddy ok?"
She just nodded, not really paying attention to me, but at the funny faces AJ was making. I headed straight for Trey's office, knowing he would be there.
"Trey," I said softly as I entered his office.
"Yeah," he answered somewhat sadly.
"This is really hard for me to say but," I coughed, "I think that we should just be friends." I held my breath just waiting for him to explode in my face.
"Ok," he said simply.
"WHAT? Just Ok?"
"Yeah. I saw you two, today. I know you'll be happy with him."
I was shocked, but I gave him a hug. "I hope we can still be friends."
"Of course!" He added with a wink.
I headed back to the main lobby. "Ready to go?" AJ asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
I grabbed his hand as he held Gabby with his other hand. For the first time in my life I was completely and utterly happy.
