SONGBIRD

I DO NOT SUPPORT THE BANNER ADS

Hi there and welcome; as you can see by the title, I am like a songbird. If you would like to pull up a seat, get comfortable, and lend an ear, I would like to tell you why I am like a songbird............................

You see, ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved music. I was always my most content when there was music playing around me. My Mom told me that before I could even talk very well, I would stand in one place and sway back and forth and hum along to whatever music was playing. She could always tell which ones were my favorite by how interested I was to the song. At the time, even I was too young to realize where that love of music would lead me. When I look back, I could say that God was shaping me even then, waiting for the time I would be open to Him and use this love for music to glorify Him and to touch the hearts of whoever was listening.

As I grew older, my favorite class in school was music class. I started to appreciate even the types of music that I had never heard before, like classical; I also loved the times that we would learn songs to sing at school assemblies. When I was in Junior High, I got the chance to join a Christian Youth singing group called "SOUNDS OF CONVICTION" and I sang in this group for 2 years; we traveled to places all over the state of West Virginia to sing, like at Montecello; Bluefield (Christian )College (on a flatbed truck); at the local Union Mission; at Pipestem, our state park, for the Easter Sunrise Service; in the auditorium of our Junior and High Schools;etc. We sang but also had choreography with it for effects, along with costume changes, skits, and testimonies in between. There were always people to come forward for the invitation. We could see God working everywhere.

In High School, there was choir class and afterwards, I sang around with a few of my friends. For quite awhile, I got away from public singing but never gave up singing all together, cause I was always singing to myself (in front of the mirror!) and for family holidays and special occasions. I even had the honor to sing AMAZING GRACE, my Pawpaw's favorite song, at his funeral in May,1999. I will always remember that as a bitter/sweet time.

When I dedicated my life back to God in 1992, I became part of the choir; I sing in the group but also have the privledge of singing solos, by soundtrack, and although I still get very nervous, I always pray that God will use me as His vessel to pour out His love to whoever needs it. I always feel a peace come over me that I can't describe except to say that God is always in control. If He wants me to become emotional, then He has His way, whether I want to or not! So you see, I started out with a love of music and ended up with a love for God and a gift and talent that I desire to use to praise God. God keeps me singing as I go.........

PSALM 63:3-5 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. AMEN
