~~A PASSION FOR STRAWBERRIES~~

As you can probably figure out, I am into Strawberries. I have been collecting Strawberry items since I was just 9 years old. Strawberries started out being my very favorite fruit of all and during the summer. While visiting with my Granny Peck, I would get all the juicy, ripe Strawberries that I could get in a season. I knew that if I didn't take advantage of the best season to get this wonderful, delicious fruit, it would be another year before I could put my little fingers on another one. My Granny wouldn't come home from the grocery store without a large basket of the best looking ones she could find! She knew that I would savor every one of them and couldn't wait for her to get in the door before I was going through the bag to find them!

During the seasons that I could not enjoy my wonderful Strawberries,I would have dreams about them when sleeping and when awake, anything red that caught my eye would remind me of summers past. As I grew up, I would see different things that would have Strawberry designs on it, everything from dishes to teapots would have beautiful clusters of Strawberries on it. This gave me the idea that I have been expanding from that time to the present. Something to collect..................

My collection began as something simple,like little magnets, candles,figurines,and gradually went to collecting items like canisters, novelty cans,wall decor,making items in Cross Stitch, Ceramics,and Crochet. At present, I have enough Strawberry items that I could send a photo to a magazine featuring unusual kitchens, because that is where I have All of my Strawberry items that I've collected for the past 30 years! My collection now includes items like dishtowels, potholders,teapots,placemats (several kinds),curtains,glassware, magnets on the fridge,collector plates, pictures on the walls, and have even had a friend make me a sweatshirt with these lucious clusters on it! I wonder....will anyone appreciate them as much as I do? But that doesn't stop me. Everytime I go to a yard sale or flea market, I look very carefully to see if I can spot something red. When I do, I start to get a little excited, the way a child would going to a toy store! Most of the time, my search is successful, as I find at least one thing to add to my collection, sometimes more. The search is still on......

But the most awesome reason for loving this beautiful strawberries is I can imagine God's mighty,powerful hands forming the fragile blossoms that turn into this fruit that has a fantastic taste and is very pleasing to the eye. God gave me such enjoyment in such a small thing!
