Play as percussive as possible.
The "x"'s with the "+" under them mean to click the strings
against the fretboard with your thumb. The "x"'s with the "v" and "^"'s
under them means to palm-mute the strings while strumming.  Did I loose you yet?

 Once you get the pattern down, it's easy!
