Businessman slapped with indecent assault charge

Harold Branford, 47, of 2667 National Avenue, South Ruimveldt, and the owner of Brans Security Services, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to face the charge of indecent assault.

Indecently assaulting his 10-year-old stepdaughter.

It is alleged that the defendant on Wednesday November 12, 2008, in Georgetown, indecently assaulted a former female employee. He pleaded not guilty.
His lawyer said that his client is married with three children and being a former educator, and respected businessman, ‘shall in no way trample with the evidence put forward.’
He added that his client does not pose a flight risk since he has no previous offences before the courts, and asked for a reasonable bail.

The defendant did fondle the ‘private parts’ of the female employee.

Police Prosecutor Sherwin Matthews said that the prosecution had no objection to bail but contended that the defendant did fondle the ‘private parts’ of the female employee. ‘Your worship, she left because of him,’ the prosecution stated
