The Undefeatable Chris JerichoTHE UNDEFEATABLE CHRIS JERICHO
Extreme Champion
Aug. 3, 2005 - Sept. 14, 2005

After having his Cruiserweight title made defunct, The Undefeatable set his sights on Riptide's Extreme Championship. La Mala Sombra had Riptide pulling double-duty as he was also facing Excellence in the main event for the PWF title. Jericho was allowed by Eric Bischoff to pick the match-type for the Extreme Championship match and he chose a First Pinfall match, looking to stay away from the more hardcore matches the Extreme Championship is known for.

Riptide -- possibly preoccupied with thoughts about the main event and the PWF Championship -- could not defeat The Undefeatable. Rather, he couldn't defeat an opponent before Jericho could; The Undefeatable scored the win on Triple H. Jericho ended Riptide's impressive reign as Extreme Champion, claiming his seventh major wrestling championship. Seven, for Jericho at least, really was the new six.

Riptide would rebound, though, and fair very well in the main event, battling Federation Champion Excellence to a draw.
