At the 1997 December to Remember event, Del Wilkes, Greg Mills, and Raven took part in a three-way match that was, as usual, marred by interference. This time, though, it was a new group, the Alliance of Evil -- old enemies of Greg Mills from the IWA -- that made their presence felt, setting off a brawl that even the NOWF's seasoned officials could not mitigate. As a result, the title was held up and put up for grabs in a tournament set to culminate at the NOWF's first No Turning Back pay-per-view, a show that would become the NOWF's premiere event. Wilkes made it to the finals against Mankind, and got the win to reclaim the title.
