After almost one week after that terrible incident I feel that it is now time for me to have my say about those horrific events. This has been bottled up inside of me for too long and now I will be able to get a lot of things off my chest. Please take the time to read this even if you are the kind of person who does not care for articles. Everything on my mind is all jumbled around so I'll write this message using themes as the basis.
SHOCK
"There must be some way out of here, said the joker to the thief. There's
too much confusion I can't get no relief."
-Bob Dylan
The events of last Tuesday were as much of a shock to me as it was to
the rest of the world. Prior to that it seemed that our society was
above such terrible events. When we hear about events such as The Battle
of Stalingrad, Pearl Harbor and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki we
are full of disgust and amazement. But we also feel that events to this
great an extent will never happen during our generation. Yet it did. It
was like scenes from an action movie and it was like you had to suspend
you disbelief to view the happenings. I am still shock and appalled at
these events. Words cannot fully express how I feel.
HEROISM
"We could be heroes, just for one day"
-David Bowie
These events taught me about who are my hero's in life. Hero's are
not athletes, musicians or movie stars.Hero's are the police, fire
fighters, medics, volunteers and blood givers who helped out in New York
and Washington throughout the week. These people have put in countless
hours of assistance and have proved to be role models for all members of
the human race. Another group of heroes has risen up from these events
and they are our friends and family. These are people who have consoled
us and have given us love and support through these tough times. It is
people like these who give us hope through their love. These are the
real heroes in life and this is who we should look up to be our role models
FANATICISM
"You say you want a revolution, we'd all love to see the plan"
-John Lennon
This is what really scares me. Yet it is not just the terrorists
that scares but also the new found North American fanaticism. It is
people calling for revenge and retribution on the terrorists. Yes I do
believe that justice must be served but at what cost Nuclear War? We
should tend to the victims first and foremost. These are the people who
need the worlds attention first and foremost. They need our prayers and
our actions. Revenge can wait. And enough with the harassment of
Islamic people and all the Nostradamus predictions. We want to pride
ourselves on being better people that these terrorists but it's garbage
like this that make us the same as them.
TERRORISM
What else can I say but that these people are absolute cowards, who
mainly use religion as an excuse for their actions. But we have to
realize that this problem is even bigger than just the events that
happened on Tuesday. Events like these happen all over the world many
times during yearly. The world has to put a stop to this, both the
through the governments and through the people. Governments must
eliminate groups such as the Taliban, the IRA and the PLO. We as people
must rebel by living our lives as normal as possible as soon as
possible. By going back to normalcy we are telling these evil people
that they can wound but they will never destroy our spirits.
In the end we need hope. We have to make an effort to not take everything for granted and to make the most of our lives. We also have to use events such as these to band together so that we can grow stronger. So amid much horror and pain there is still optimism and with this we will overcome the evil of hate mongers.
"All you need is love."
-John Lennon & Paul McCartney
"All around the world, you've got to spread the word. Tell them what you
heard. We're gonna make a better day.
All around the world, you've got to spread the word. Tell then what you
heard. You know it's gonna be o.k."
-Noel Gallagher
"Hold on world, world hold on.
It's gonna be alright. You gonna see the light."
-John Lennon
"You may say I'm a dreamer. But I'm not the only one.
I hope some day you'll join us and the world will be as one."
-John Lennon
I hope you all read this. It's not the best piece I've written but it comes from the heart so hopefully you'll all respect that. Thank you.
