Net Detective's Top 5
March 28th, 2002

This is my take on the Top 5 in the WWF. They are in three different categories. Top 5 Wrestlers, Top 5 Held Down and Top 5 that should be fired. Without furthur adieu, here are my Top 5 picks.

Top 5 Wrestlers in the WWF

1. Chris Benoit - Quite possibly the best technical wrestler of his time. There could be a few arguements against that however Benoit does belong up there. Always brings the best out in his opponents but usually ends up on the short end of the stick.

2. Kurt Angle - Although relatively new to the WWF style, Angle was an amatuer champion and has made the transition to the WWF beautifully. I cannot recall the last time Angle CAUSED a match to be under 3 stars.

3. Ric Flair - Maybe the greatest of all times. Doesn't really fit into this category seeing he is over 50 and has only had 2 matches this time around in the WWF. Both matches Flair has had in the WWF have been entertaining and I still believe Ric Flair can still carry most people to a decent match.

4. Triple H - Well this one is for all the marks. Triple H has a very limited move set but he is a hard worker. He can cut a promo and does get crowd heat or pops from the crowd. Now that HHH has returned from his leg injury will he be able to perform at 100%?

5. The Rock - Has had tons of exciting matches in the past couple of years. He is young and still has his future in front of him. Can get the crowd out of their seats at the snap of his fingers.

Top 5 Underated Wrestlers in the WWF

1. Chris Benoit - Has held the IC title as well as the Tag Team Titles. Has had a shot at the WWF Title. Benoit is a technical wrestler who always pulls the best matches out of his opponents yet is still somehow a midcard wrestler. I will agree that he doesn't have the mic skills to cut a promo but to see him hold the World Title would be a workrate fans dream.

2. Kurt Angle - The total package. Amazing in the ring, amazing on the mic. This man has held every title excluding the tag titles, yet isn't wrestling main event matches on any shows. He has been obligated to feuding with Kane for the past month. Another star that should be main eventing but is somehow in the middle of the card.

3. RVD - A newcomer to the WWF. Has already held the Hardcore and IC titles. Can be sloppy in the ring but he does have a very big fan base and gets a good reaction from the crowd for his spots. Although he is IC champ I am sure he won't move past this point and will soon be wrestling opening matches with the likes of Goldust and Bily Gunn.

4. Booker T - This man is a 5 time WCW champion and multi time holder of the WWF and WCW tag titles as well as the WCW television title and US Title but for some reason he cannot find a main even spot. He is a decent worker in the rin but the WWF feels that it's bigger stars deserve their push.

5. Tazz - I know that I will probably get heat for this one but I feel Tazz is being held down. He is not the worst worker the WWF has but somehow remains off the Wrestlemania card and ends up on shows such as Sunday night Heat and Smackdown! Has held the Hardcore and Tag Titles but was basically holding those titles for someone else. He was built up very big when he came in, handing Angle his first loss but now finds himself in opening matches or not on the card at all.

Top 5 Wrestlers in the WWF that should be fired

1. Kevin Nash - What a waste of space. I don't know how much they are paying this guy but they really haven't really used him yet. The reason? Maybe the WWF realizes that he would mess up anyone's style that he wrestles with. nWo or not, get rid of Nash.

2. Big Show - Again a huge waste of space. At least they keep him off the card most of the time. Is there anyone in the WWF that he could have a decent match with? Maybe Nash, they both move at the same speed.

3. Billy Gunn - Called the greatest pure athelete in the WWF? Then why is he so tired after 2 minutes in the ring? The WWF tried to push him to the moon but that didn't work. Maybe they should put him on a space ship and send him to the moon for real.

4. Kane - They have tried everything with this guy and still nothing. JR calls him the best big man in the business....why??? Because he can jump from the top rope and land on his feet and roll? Jesus JR get some balls and call it like it is.....Kane sucks!

5. Rikishi - What purpose does this guy serve? I did it for the people, I did it for the Rock, ah shut up. That angle went nowhere because Rikishi is that crap. The fans have no interest in seeing this man wrestle or talk.

Those are my Top 5 picks for each category. Some of you may disgree but this is my opinion.
