You want to talk electrifying? You are probably thinking of The Rock. Not in my opinion. Chris Benoit is the most electrifying man in sports entertainment. To me electrifying is something that entertains me and pretty much every time Benoit steps into the ring, that happens! Benoit is one of if not the best wrestler in North America.
Benoit came to the WWF for one reason and it wasn't for the payday or the TV exposure, those I believe are for men who lack confidence in the athletic abilities and are anxious to prove their worth in other ways. Chris Benoit came to the WWF to be a World Champion that was taken seriously.
It is funy that everytime another wrestler says that they had their best match of their career it is always against Chris Benoit, but does Benoit ever receive the credit for these matches? Certainly not. It would be guys like The Rock or Triple H which he carried to 3 1/2 * matches or above who would be remembered for the outcome of these matches. I don't know if wrestling promoters overlook his talent or think that just because he doesn't possess subperb mic skills that he doesn't deserve to be the world champion, but in my opinion he should be a main eventer and a viable contender for the World Championship. Can anyone seriously watch Chris Benoit wrestle and tell me that he isn't one of the greatest in ring workers of his time? Benoit has had opportunities for World Titles but they have always been foiled one way or another.
If Chris Benoit ever won a major title there was always something that ruined his title win. Ex #1 Chris Benoit defeats Sid for the WCW title only to hand it over to a referee in the locker room and leave to join the WWF. Ex #2 Chris Benoit defeats the Rock for the WWF title only to have Mick Foley (who was WWF commissioner at the time) overturn the decision and restart the match and give Benoit yet another disappointing loss. No respect for Benoit!!!
I don't know how many of you have seen "The Best of Chris Benoit in Japan" but that is one of the greatest tapes that I own. Any match on there would be more entertaining than most North American match. His matches with Shinjiro Otani or Jushin Liger are quite amazing and even though I don't understand the commentators they are much more exciting than Good Ol JR and Lawler, and I would rather watch these matches than any WWF match. Now if that isn't convincing enough, I don't know what is.
