Some people find it hard to play one character inside a wrestling ring. They often lose who they truly are, and the line between reality and fantasy become blurred. But some people can move beyond that. In fact, Allie Spirit/Camron Star are two seperate identities played by one outstanding women's wrestler. Check out the interview below.

Real Name?
Maggie
In-Ring Name?
Allie Spirit and Camron Star
How did you come up with your in-ring name?
Camron started with just the last name, Star, and I wanted something that sounded strong and a little masculine. And Allie was my husband’s idea. Spirit just came along as a tag with the cheerleader thing.
Location?
I’m from Bloomfield Indiana. Allie is from Orlando, Florida and Camron’s from San Antonio, Texas.
What Federation are you currently in?
I currently work for CIWI, SWA, and MCW.
What Federations have you wrestled in before?
CCW and ICW (not Indy)
When did you start wrestling?
I started in February of 2002. It’s hard to believe this first year is almost over.
What school did you train at (or who trained you)?
Ollie Tharpe Jr trained me. I’ve worked a bit with Mercedes. You can’t get enough opinions on things. Everyone is different and learning the little differences is interesting.
Who is the strongest woman you've seen in the Indy's (mic skills plus in ring skills)?
The Diva. No doubt.
Who is the strongest man you've seen in the Indy's (mic skill plus in ring skills)?
At the risk of sounding unoriginal, Poison Apollo Star. He’s incredible.
What's it like working in the Indy's?
It’s difficult, but anything is possible. We drive a lot for very little money if any at all. If I make enough to fill my gas tank, I’m happy. We’re just like the big boys, just with no cash. I still love this business and would do anything for it.
What is your most memorable moment?
I would say winning the ICW Cruiserweight title just to have it taken away.
Have you wrestled any mixed matches (Male vs. female)? And if so, with who?
I’ve wrestled more men than I have women. I’ve wrestled Spanky Skolari, the Intruder, Jordan Blake and Nick Nitro.
Do you have a gimmick? And if so, what is it? If Not, what gimmick would you have if you could choose?
Allie Spirit is my baby face. She’s a former Florida state champion and a cheerleader. She’s always smiling and is confident in her ring abilities. Camron Star is the total opposite of the Allie gimmick. Camron is a punk princess, think Gwen Stefani only more attitude. She’s determined to get her way and she doesn’t care who she has to hurt to get there.
What was the hardest wrestling move you learned?
I wouldn’t say any move I’ve learned was hard to pick up. I’ve been told I’m a fast learner. As far as challenging for myself, I would say a huricanranna. I’m scared of heights and it takes a lot of jump to get on another person’s shoulders.
What's your schedule like?
Its hectic. I work five days a week, go workout about three days of that, and I wrestle just about every weekend. It doesn’t stop, but I like it that way.
Who are some of your favorite people to work with?
I try not to have favorites, I will wrestle anybody any time.
Is there any kind of match you wouldn't do (like a lingerie match, bikini match, Jell-O match)?
None of the above. I think its degrading to women everywhere. If the promoter wants to pull some girls out of the audience to do one, fine. I just don’t want to watch. I don’t do those type of things, not for any amount of money.
What titles have you won or helped others win?
CCW Women’s, ICW Cruiserweight, and MCW Women’s.
I read on the GLORY girls site that your husband started to train for wrestling first. Is he still wrestling? And if he is, what name does he
go under?
Yes. “Stylin” Brian Klass.
Who would you like to work with that you haven't gotten the chance to yet?
I would love to do business with Mercedes. Everyone says she something special and I need to see for myself.
You've only been involved with wrestling for a short time, yet you've already won a women's championship as well as had a brief stint as
ICW's Cruiserweight championship. What do you credit your success too?
Hard work, honesty, and dedication.
What goals have you set for yourself in the professional wrestling business?
I’ve made it a point to be the person that everyone is talking about when they leave the show. I want the lasting impression to be of me. I try and steal the show and hopefully, with type of attitude, I’ll be getting a WWE contract in the future. Mark my words, I will be a WWE superstar.
What has been your scariest moment in the ring?
Getting knocked out. I’ve never seen it, but from what I hear it was pretty scary.
What kind of relationship do you have with your fans?
I love my fans. They are with me through anything; I just want them to know I appreciate their dedication to me.
Who are your biggest influences inside the ring and out?
In the ring is Shawn Michaels because if I could be half as good as he was in his prime then I would be happy. As far as outside nobody influences me. I’m my own person, with my own opinions.
Do you consider yourself a role model for other young women who want to join the ranks in the wrestling world?
WOW! Role model? I guess you could say I am. I just do what I’m supposed to do, work, it’s just that simple. Everything I do I do with dignity, heart, and soul.
On GLORY you stated that you were a straight up baby face. Will we ever see you try a run at being a heel?
Camron is a heel! If I had to choose between being a face or a heel for the rest of my wrestling career, then I would choose heel. It’s more fun to be evil.
The following questions are asking for your opinion on the WWE
product, since that is what most people gets to see.
Who are you favorite WWE Male wrestlers?
Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio.
Who are you favorite WWE Female Wrestlers?
Victoria, Molly Holly, Lita, Alundra Blayze, and I’m warming up to Jazz.
What is your favorite WWE storyline?
When Edge and Christian were denied a title shot as long as the Hardyz had the belts, so they disguised themselves as El Conquistadores. They even did interviews beside their made up character to throw people off the trail.
What is your least favorite WWE storyline?
While HLA and necrophilia had their moments, the worst storyline was the N. W. O. comeback. It would have worked with just those three people, but they had to water it down, and have Hogan turn face. It was just a waste of time and contracts.
With the current storylines focusing on HLA and matches like lingerie pillow fights, how do you think the women wrestlers could move past that and put the focus back on their in-ring skills? Do you think this focus on T&A will hinder other women's, like yourself, chances to be taken seriously?
I hope sometime soon they realize that shock TV doesn’t work anymore after you have already shocked them. The only way to win back the fans is to have good, solid, female wrestlers. Shock TV comes and goes, but wrestling has always been there. Hell yah the focus on T & A affects the women in independents. Just take a look at the outfits that women in wrestling wear today. A greater majority of women wear two piece outfits with a tiny shirt and even smaller shorts.
If you had a chance to wrestle any WWE star, who would be your top choice (you can pick 2 males and 2 females)?
Shawn Michaels and Rey Mysterio. Victoria and Molly Holly.
What do you think of the current WWE women's matches?
They are getting better and better. They actually resemble matches now, not just snap mares and hair tosses. I would like to applaud Trish Stratus for making the move from fluff to worker. She still has a long way to go, but she is trying.
Do you think women should get more belts (Like their own tag team belts)?
No. By only having one belt, it makes it the most important thing. If everyone is working towards a common goal, then they will work harder in their matches to achieve it.
Do you think the WWE should take a page from the Indy's and let the women wrestle the men more?
I think so, I wrestle the men all the time. They would have to wrestle cruiserweights to keep it believeable.
Who is the strongest WWE female wrestler (Mic skills and in ring skills
combined)?
Victoria
Who is the strongest WWE male wrestler (mic skills and in ring skills
combined)?
Kurt Angle
Do you think any of today's wrestlers (indy or WWE) are going to be
legends in years to come?
Legends are people who make an impact on this business, anyone who makes an impact now is a legend in the making.
If you could model your character after any WWE diva, who would it be and why?
Victoria, because I think the psycho thing might be fun.
If you could change one thing about the WWE product, what would it be and why?
I would get rid of shock tv. I’m tired of watching it, you’re tired of watching it. That way you can build a stronger women’s division and separate the workers from the fluff. I think Smackdown has a better product because it’s good storylines combined with excellent workers. Raw strictly tries to get by on names and shock tv. Too bad the girls are on RAW.
Do you have any advice for others trying to break into the business?
My advice is to believe in yourself, never stop trying, and never stop learning. Remember that your success is only limited by your desire to learn.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
To silence the critics, there are people in this business that don’t want me here. I don’t just lie down and die. I will never stop working just because a few people try to intimidate me. I’m here, so get used to it.
Here are questions submitted by Mike:
What’s the difference between your characters... Camron Star + Allie
Spirit?
Allie Spirit: An ex-cheerleader from Florida. A four time former Florida state women’s champion, and never lets her success go to her head. She is a little ditzy, but is a skilled technician. Camron Star: A punk princess with major attitude. She doesn’t care what you think, because you’re an idiot. She will do anything and everything to win. Bitch is not even the cornerstone of this person.
How did you end up getting involved with the Glory Wrestling website?
I was searching on the internet, I stumbled upon it, and applied the same day.
When did you 1st appear or debut on the Glory Wrestling website?
I had a couple picture of the days debuts that I don’t remember the dates of, but my official debut was October 12th 2002.
Do you think Glory has helped your career as a wrestler?
I think so. It makes me readily available to promoters in the area.
And personally, what do you think of the Glory website?
I think it is a fabulous web site that promotes women’s wrestling. I think John has done a wonderful job, and I would like to thank him for his dedication to women’s wrestling.
How do you get involved with a wrestling promotion you are interested in wrestling for?
I get in contact with the promoter, we talk business, and if he is interested then I get him a copy of my work or a try out match.
How did you get involved with CIWIndy?
The promoter of that show was announcing for a different promotion that I already was working for, he approached me, and asked me to come to one of his workouts.
When did you 1st debut there?
November 29th 2002
How have things been going with CIWIndy?
They could be better, but I am not dead.
How long have you been with CIWIndy?
4 months.
Who's your favorite opponent(s) to face on the roster of CIWIndy?
I don’t have a favorite, I work everybody. If you have favorites, then that means you have an opinion, and opinions get people hurt. I would love to get Charley Boy and Mercedes in the ring for what they did to me.
What’s the best thing about being in the wrestling industry?
I know it sounds cheesy, but I really love the fans. If it wasn’t for the fans, then I wouldn’t be here and neither would anybody else.
Do you wan to just stay with the independent circuit or move onto bigger and better things?
I have to move on and be the best.
What is your current entrance music? Is it the same for both Camron Star and Allie Spirit? Do you think it will ever change sometime down the line?
Allie Spirit: Mickey by Toni Basil Camron Star: Shut Up by Kelly Osbourne My music will only change if I change my outlook as those characters.
Do you think winning a title belt will change your personality as far as your characters go?
Allie no way, but for Camron…She would demand her own dressing roon.
What are you looking to get out of wrestling in the future?
I hope that I can get a decent job, and maybe a friend or two.
And how can fans keep updated on what’s going on with both Camron Star and
Allie Spirit?
