[Scene: A dark room is shown, little light is present as the only light is the lights from the street glowing onto the metal inside. A door is heard opening as a lone figure's silhouette is seen in the little light that is present. As the figure turns on the lights, the room is cast in a glow of the florescent light above it. The metal of the exercise machines and workout equipment is shown, as the figure reveals himself to be Chris Cortez. He gets onto one of the machines and starts working out. Behind him, Syd can be seen looking in at him from outside, he quickly runs in and to his side]

Syd: What are you doing in here so late?!

[Chris Cortez just keeps on working out, as if he didn't hear him]

Syd: ANSWER ME DAMNIT!

[Chris Cortez doesn't look at him, he just looks straight ahead with nothing but pure determination in his face]

Chris Cortez: You know, he was right

[Chris Cortez continues to work out as Syd just looks at him for a moment]

Syd: Who?

Chris Cortez: Killjoy

Syd: Killjoy?! What in the HELL was HE right about?

Chris Cortez: Me.

Syd: YOU?! What about YOU! You are a TRUE TALENTED SUPER MEGA STAR! YOU ARE BETTER THAN HIM! YOU-

Chris Cortez: No.

Syd: No? WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO!? OF COURSE YOU ARE!

Chris Cortez: You want to know why I was drinking? You want to know why I resorted to such a thing? [Sigh] I know Killjoy will laugh forever about this, but the thing is...well, I needed some liquid courage...I guess what Im saying is that...I, well...Im afraid.

[Chris Cortez stops for a second as Syd just looks at him in shock as Chris Cortez starts back up again]

Syd: I-

Chris Cortez: Before you say anything, just listen. I know what Killjoy has been doing, I know what he's been up too. All this time when he's attacked me both verbally and physically, he kept telling me to focus on my wrestling more than my music. Why? Why would he give me such advice? Why? I'll tell you why. Its because, he knew. He knew we we're going to face off sooner or later, and I know, that he wanted me to become a formable opponent in his eyes come game time. That's why I need to train now, more than ever.

[Chris Cortez starts pumping the iron harder as he continues to talk]

Chris Cortez: Cuz, Earlier tonight, he said he knew I was a warrior and that I was good in the ring. Both good points, but when he said my ego had blinded me, I knew what he meant. He's telling me that I need to look past my high self regard and see myself for what I really am.

[Chris Cortez stops for a moment]

Chris Cortez: I now see what Killjoy has been trying to tell me all this time, albeit the hardway. But, I suppose I needed it that way, I needed the wake up call.

Syd: What wake up call?

Chris Cortez: The wake up call, that I am no match for Killjoy.

[Chris Cortez continues to pump iron as Syd just goes crazy]

Syd: WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! YOU ARE A MATCH FOR HIM! CANT YOU SEE WHAT'S HAPPENING? HE'S GETTING INTO YOUR MIND! HE'S MAKING YOU THINK THIS! YOU ARE A TRUE TALENTED SUPERSTAR! HE IS NOTHING BUT A HAS-BEEN LYING BASTARD! I MEAN DO YOU THINK HE REALLY LOVES ANGEL?

[Chris Cortez stops pumping iron at the drop of a pin as he looks up at Syd]

Chris Cortez: I don't really know. I'm not sure what to think anymore. One minute he says I am right that he hates everyone and everything. But, then he says he loves Angel MORE than me because of what she has done for him in the past few months. I say that's bullshit. I've seen what he's like around her, he doesn't treat her right or care about her at all! He calls that true love? No. That's not true love. What me and Angel had, have and always will have....THAT....is true love.

[Chris Cortez stops for a minute as he rests and collects his thoughts]

Chris Cortez: He said before, watching us back in 30MC, that we we're happy together. That he didn't want to ruin it or spoil it. If you ask me, either he's a good liar or his mindgames are just a little too easy to see through. I suppose that's what happens when you get too old.

Syd: What are you talking about? He's practically 3 years older than you.

Chris Cortez: So? That's not what I was talking bout. Im talking bout how long he has been in this business 8 or so long years. All that wear and tear can do things to both the body and the mind. Over the years, all those hardcore matches and what not, they have been taking their toll. Now, Im not saying Killjoy isn't able to fully do what he's been doing each and every week, but it makes you wonder. It makes you wonder if this run, IS his last run, and If all this wear and tear is starting to get to him. Both physically and mentally

[Chris Cortez continues to pump iron as Syd just sits silent for a few minutes before talking up]

Syd: Yet your still willing to go through with all of this?

Chris Cortez: Of course.

Syd: Why?

Chris Cortez: For Angel, of course.

Syd: Is that really why?

Chris Cortez: Why else would I be doing this?

Syd: You said you wanted and deserved your piece of the pie. Is that all this match matters to you? Getting a damn push up in the next rung of the ladder?

[Chris Cortez angrily gets up and into the face of Syd]

Chris Cortez: WHAT?! Look HERE, ok? I LOVE HER! I HAVE, I DO AND ALWAYS WILL! THAT IS MY MAIN GOAL IN FOCUS HERE! KILLJOY SAID-

Syd: KILLJOY SAID! KILLJOY SAID! IM GETTING TIRED OF YOU SAYING WHAT KILLJOY F'N SAID! IF YOU ASK ME, HE IS DOING PERFECTLY FINE IN HIS MIND GAMES! IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE HE'S GOT YOU RIGHT IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND! AND FROM WHAT IT SEEMS LIKE, IT SEEMS LIKE YOU DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANGEL! YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT YOURSELF AND ALWAYS HAVE SENSE THE BEGINNING! I HELP YOU, WEEK IN AND WEEK OUT AND WHAT DO I GET TO SHOW FOR ANY OF IT? NOTHING! AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED, YOUR ON YOUR OWN!

[Syd and Chris Cortez look at each other for a moment as Syd just turns and leaves heading out. Chris Cortez watches him leave till he is out of view as Chris Cortez sits down. He starts to cry as he puts his face in his hands]

Chris Cortez: I do love her...I do...I do...don't I?

[Chris Cortez just sits there and sighs as the cameras shutoff and the scene fades to black]
