30MC SEASON'S BEATINGS - 12/29/01

Howard Butz: Order has been restored and we're ready for our next match between Lars and Chris Cortez. Dillon, there is no love lost here between these two.

Dillon Diamond: Lars had plans for both members of 69 Degrees and I get the feeling that he and Raoul blame Cortez for their spiral into oblivion. I also think that former member Bad Boy Corey blames Cortez as well.

Howard Butz: Whatever the case, I think we're in for a battle between Chris Cortez and the members of Pretty in Pink.

[Inside the ring, Cortez gets checked over by Robin while Lars points to his opponent. Finished, Robin calls for the bell.]

LARS
versus
CHRIS CORTEZ

*** Ding *** Ding ***

Howard Butz: We're underway.

Dillon Diamond: I don't know what's being said between the two but Lars keeps pointing at Cortez.

Howard Butz: He's swiveling his hips? I think he wants Cortez to dance?

Dillon Diamond: It looks that way. And look ... Raoul wants him to as well.

Shaking his head, Cortez watches as Lars mimics belting out a tune on his imaginary microphone. Waving him off, Cortez heads back to his corner as Lars follows him.

Howard Butz: Lars wants Cortez to sing and dance and doesn't seem to be taking no for an answer.

Turning back to Raoul and shrugging his shoulders, Lars takes a blow from behind. Knocked into the ropes, Lars takes several forearms to the back as a horrified Raoul looks on from the floor. With the ref counting, Cortez breaks on a four count.

Howard Butz: Cortez finally breaking from the ropes.

Stepping back momentarily, Cortez comes right back in throwing shots at Lars. Spinning him around, a solid knee to the stomach knocks Lars back into the corner with a screech.

Howard Butz: Cortez climbing the ropes over Lars.

Jumping from the top, Cortez flips forward as Lars staggers out of the corner. Grabbing Lars' head on the way down, he drops him with a stunner. Taken down with such force, Lars bounces off the mat before settling in facedown.

Howard Butz: WOW!

Dillon Diamond: I think a victory here would be somewhat of an upset. To happen this fast.

Rolling Lars to his back, Cortez drops down for a cover before being thrown off on a near pinfall.

Howard Butz: NOT QUITE YET!

Pulling Lars to his feet, Cortez whips him across the ring. Throwing himself back against the ropes, Cortez meets Lars halfway, knocking him to the mat with a flying cross body block and coming up with a pin ... or at least that was the plan. Rolling through, Lars has Cortez in a pinning predicament.

Howard Butz: CORTEZ WITH THE PIN ... NO! LARS WITH THE PIN! ONE! TWO! SHOULDER UP!

Staggering to his feet, Lars takes several boots to the thigh. Kicking out his leg from behind, Cortez puts Lars down. Jumping off the middle rope, he lands an elbow. After taunting Raoul on the outside, Cortez sends Lars for a ride.

Howard Butz: Cortez with an Irish whip ... LARS WITH A REVERSE!

Hitting the corner hard, Cortez takes a running clothesline. Still feeling the effects of the leg shots, Lars staggers around the ring trying to get his bearings before heading back to Cortez. Pulling him up, Lars pumps Cortez into the air before dropping him down across the top rope.

Howard Butz: Lars with a slingshot ... Wait, he just dropped him across the ropes? What's he doing? He's calling for Raoul?

Up on the ring apron, Raoul licks his lips as he eyes the Cortez backside. With Lars occupying the ref, Raoul rears back and plants a big swat to the tush. With Cortez pushing himself off the ropes, Raoul runs for cover. With an angry look on his face, Cortez turns and is grabbed by Lars. Dropping to his knees, Lars pulls Cortez throatfirst down across the rope.

Howard Butz: Lars now following Cortez to the outside.

Pushing him back against the apron, Lars' limp wristed chops land with a loud pop to them. Pointing at the ring barrier, Lars sends fans in the front row scurrying before whipping Cortez into the steel. Smacking into the structure, Cortez drops to the seat of his pants while Lars and Raoul, still in their Christmas gear gallop in place before "Santa" Lars gives his best "Ho Ho Ho". Grabbing Raoul by the arm, he sends him into the seated Cortez. Landing on his shoulders, Raoul is in heaven as he bucks up and down with his broncobuster.

Howard Butz: Adding insult to injury, Lars gets Raoul into the act.

Dillon Diamond: And Robin has seen enough. She wants the match back in the ring.

Pulling a glazed over Raoul from his perch, Lars rolls Cortez back into the ring. Rolling to his knees and hanging onto the ropes, Cortez drives a shoulder into Lars on the apron. Spinning him around and pulling him into a dragon sleeper.

Howard Butz: This would be worse for Lars if it wasn't in the ropes. Robin calling for a break.

Ignoring her count, Cortez grabs a handful of tights and pulls Lars into the air. Spinning away from the ropes, Cortez flattens him with a dragon suplex. Rolling over the top, he hooks a leg for a two count. After slamming Lars back into the corner, Cortez throws him over with a monkey flip. Climbing to the top, Cortez throws himself back into a moonsault that misses as Lars is pulled out of the way by Raoul.

Howard Butz: Raoul pulling Lars to safety as the two share a hug outside the ring. HERE COMES CORTEZ!

With a plancha to the outside, he lands in Lars arms. Running forward, Lars slams his opponent's back into the ring post before dropping to a knee and bringing Cortez down across it.

Dillon Diamond: Things are really starting to heat up.

Howard Butz: WHAT'S LARS DOING?

Pushing Cortez over the apron, Lars steps back, giving himself some running room. Charging forward for his favorite "Backside Bump and Grind" splash, Lars leaps into the air to land on Cortez' back only to slam into the apron as Chris slides out of the way. With a groan of pain from the male portion of the audience, Lars staggers backwards holding himself while Raoul runs to his aid. Ready to "rub" Lars to make it all better, Raoul is pushed aside before Cortez flattens the head of PiP with a crushing superkick.

Howard Butz: CORTEZ WITH THE SUPER KICK!

Dillon Diamond: The One Man Boy Band with a Mic Check. One. Two. Is this working?

Rolling Lars into the ring, Cortez does a little dance step that brings Raoul to the apron. With the ref moving in, Cortez threatens Raoul only to be pulled down with an inside cradle. Rolling him up for the pin, Lars has to wait until Raoul convinces Robin to turn around.

Howard Butz: LARS HOOKS THE LEG! ROBIN DOESN'T SEE IT!

Dillon Diamond: She's trying to get Raoul off the ring apron.

Finally dropping to the mat, she slaps it twice before Cortez gets his shoulder up. Whipped into the ropes, Cortez flies back and sticks Lars with a spinning heel kick. With Cortez landing hard, Lars is first to his feet. Staggering to Raoul on the apron for comfort, he doesn't see Cortez shoot forward. Slamming into Lars from behind, they in turn slam into Raoul and send him to the floor with a squeal.

Howard Butz: Cortez with a waist lock.

Falling back, he pulls Lars down and rolls through until rolling to his feet and his opponent in a one legged Boston crab.

Howard Butz: Cortez with that leg he's been working over. The ref is watching closely for a submission.

Dillon Diamond: I think he's going to tap. HE'S GOING TO TAP!

His face a mask of pain, Lars slowly crawls forward until making it to the ropes. Not so willing to let go, Cortez finally lets go with a warning from the ref. Pushed back against the ropes, Lars strikes with a surprise limp wrister. Sending Cortez across the ring, Lars trips him up on the return with a knee to the legs. After sending Cortez flipping through the air, Lars drops to his own knees.

Howard Butz: Lars must really be feeling it in his legs. He's slowly climbing the ropes ...

From his perch, the "Wainbow Warrior" leaps off, sticking his head butt into Cortez' crotch. Knocked silly from the blow, Lars lays in place as Cortez bolts upright in pain, again bringing a groan from the fans.

Howard Butz: Robin staring to count on both men. Four. Five. Six. Seven.

With pleading from Raoul on the outside, Lars staggers to his feet. Pulling Cortez to his feet, Lars moves him into the corner and lifts him onto the middle rope, facing out towards the fans. Heading for the other side of the ring, Lars takes a running start before going airborne and landing on Cortez' backside. Holding on for dear life, Lars' eyes roll up in his head as he pistons into his opponent before sliding off to Robin's count.

Howard Butz: I think this is more than Raoul can bear to watch.

Dillon Diamond: He's been watching through his fingers much of this match.

Covering Cortez, Lars slumps there as Robin slaps out a two count before breaking it because of a leg on the ropes. With Raoul slapping the leg free, Lars holds his place before Robin starts a count for a break. Both men stagger to their feet before Cortez drops Lars with a double leg takedown. A quick cover is broken on a two count.

Howard Butz: The two are exchanging shots. Lars with his chops is taking it's toll over Cortez' punches.

Dillon Diamond: Don't look now, Howard ... HERE COMES BAD BOY COREY AND HE'S GOT A CHAIR!

Howard Butz: Five bucks says it's not for a front row seat.

Knocking Cortez back against the ropes, Lars gives Corey easy access to the chair swinging Bad Boy. Missing Cortez, he tags Lars who drops. With the interference, Robin calls for the bell.
